The first DLC expansion for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion, labelled "Forbidden Worlds" is set to release on June 5. The 4X strategy game from Ironclad Games and Stardock Entertainment is once again pushing the boundaries of space supremacy. Additional content includes new planets, technologies, planetary bonuses and everyone's favorite OCD instigator, Steam achievements.
We really liked Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion. And it looks like we weren't alone. Stardock have announced that the game has sold over 100,000 copies via digital distribution channels. The publisher was previously worried that Steam might have cannabalized their direct sales of the game, but instead, saw it only supplement them. Obviously with direct sales Stardock is getting a larger piece of the financial pie, so they wouldn't want to cut into that. Thankfully this looks like an everybody wins situation.
We recently reviewed Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion where we found it to be a strategy game of epic proportions. The scope of the game is huge and this feeling has been captured by a fan of the series, Mr. FujiKicker who has made his own rendition of a Sins Rebellion trailer - titled 'Epica'.
If you've never played a Sins of a Solar Empire game, it's probably a bit daunting to hear that a single level can take days to complete. That's part of the charm that is this 4x strategy game. Decisions you make echo throughout your entire gameplay session. While the first Sins game focused entirely on combat, and the expansion added diplomacy to the mix - the upcoming Rebellion takes things a step further adding research victories as well as some alternates like last flagship standing, last capital and others.
Rebellion is the first standalone expansion for Sins of a Solar Empire (2008) and Stardock has released a trailer of epic proportions. It features the telling of a dark tale of usurping forces, oppressed armies, civil war, and some of the best space ships we have seen in a video game. Check out the trailer below.
Stardock have just released several new screenshots for the upcoming Sins of a Solar Empire stand alone expansion pack called Rebellion. This new version of the game features several hefty changes including interface updates, a graphical overhaul, splitting of the factions, and many many improvements.
Sins of a Solar Empire is a game that's as complicated as it is beautiful. Its what I like to call space porn - and for anyone thats ever played the game its hard to argue with the incredible visuals the game provides. Like i said though, its a complicated and deep game, but once you get past the learning curve its incredibly enjoyable - especially in co-op.
