Farmin' on the couch.

Stardew Valley's Local Co-Op Mode Has Arrived On Consoles

No longer must prospective farmers sequester themselves to separate consoles for co-op crop waterin'.  Stardew Valley's 1.5 update, which introduced local co-op on PC back in December, has finally made its way to the game's console releases.  That means you and up to three friends can bicker over crop placement from the comfort of a single couch.  The Midwestern dream has come to fruition!

Waiting With Baited Breath

Stardew Valley Multiplayer Live Across All Consoles

Stardew Valley has finally resolved the issues prolonging the multiplayer from reaching Xbox One, meaning, as sole-developer Eric Barone wrote, “The most recent big news is that XBOX and PS4 now both have the 1.3 multiplayer update, bringing all platforms (except VITA) into parity with one another.” Further, Barone announced his plans to continue development in what he calls additional “polish” such as removing odd bugs, fully fleshing out features, and making sure the game runs as intended across all consoles.

Certification Has Slowed Release.

Stardew Valley Co-Op Now Available on PS4, Delayed on Xbox One

Eric Barone, the sole creator and constant developer for Stardew Valley, announced via Twitter (see below) that the co-op patch for his game has been delayed on the Xbox One due to failing the certification testing. He further notes that he is unsure why this happened, but that he was working with the porting team to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. On the bright side, the co-op update is now available for the PlayStation 4 version as well as the previously added PC and Nintendo Switch.

We can finally ignore the common good.

Next Stardew Valley Update Will Allow Separate Cash In Co-Op

We've all been there.  You spend hour upon hour toiling away in the fields, mines, and rivers of Pelican Town, only for your "teammate" to hop on down to the local hat emporium and spend all your hard-earned cash in one fell swoop.  That'd be pretty infuriating in any game, but even moreso in Stardew Valley, a game focused around planning and (mostly) not being frivolous.

Two down, two to go...

Co-Op Update Now Available for Stardew Valley on Switch

In a blog post earlier this week, Eric Barone (aka ConcernedApe) spread the good word that the co-op update for the Nintendo Switch version of Stardew Valley would be available to download on Wednesday, the 12th (i.e., yesterday). Well yesterday arrived and with it, the co-op patch. Now you and up to three friends can all work a farm together, romance the local populous, and explore some caverns.

Online Co-Op Coming to Stardew Valley Next Year

One of the big hits of 2016 was the "open-ended country-life RPG," Stardew Valley. This labor of love from one-man development team ConcernedApe let players own and operate their own farm while also engaging in other activities like romancing the local townsfolk and throw some festivals. While it is a single-player only affair, there's some good news on the way: co-op will be implemented sometime next year.
