FEAR for Batman and the Lord of the Rings

Tell Your Friends, All Your Friends, I am the Warner Brothers Humble Bundle

Robin Hood was sort of a superhero of his day, robbing from the rich and giving to the poor, whilst roaming around the forest in a pair of tights.  You could be a little hero yourself by giving some money to the WB Humble Bundle on Steam and getting F.E.A.R. 3The Lord of the Rings: War in the North and a Batman game or two, for as much as you like.

Co-Op Release Alert for the Week of 6.20.2011

Holy Cow!  We missed two weeks of Co-Op Release Alerts.  We're sure that your wallets are absolutely bristling with money, since we haven't been there to tell you which co-op games are available.  Without these weekly notifications you may have missed out on games like Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters, Men of War: Vietnam, Operation Flashpoint: Red River, Red Faction: Armageddon, Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012, and The Adventures of Shuggy.  Wow.  Looks like a lot of stuff came out while some of us were absorbed with E3.  Luckily, the rest of the Co-Optimus staff was on the ball and delivered awesome co-op reviews for Lantern, Red Faction, and Magic.  We even have an Op Flashpoint cooperative review coming soon!

New F.E.A.R. 3 Trailer Reminds Us To Bring a Friend

Fear 3's release date is almost upon us.  The latest trailer for the FPS action/horror game kindly suggests that we don't play alone.  I keep on forgetting about this title, and then it comes roaring back with bigger and badder trailers.  This one is bloody as a two-minute steak.  Sounds like Marilyn Manson is adding to the atmosphere, which works for this video (if you're into that sort of thing).  I hope the gameplay is solid because Fear 3 looks like it will be a blast for co-op, whether you're couching it or online.

New Video for Another Co-Op Mode in F.E.A.R. 3

F.E.A.R. 3 has the potential to be a cooperative gaming power house.  We already know that the title supports a two player co-op campaign, both locally via split screen or online.  We've brought you a video of the Left4Dead-like four player online co-op mode, "F**king Run."  We've shown you a video of the competitive/co-op scoring system in action.  Today, we have a new video for yet another co-op mode called "Contractions."  In this mode gamers will be given a series of fill-in-the-blank questions.  You must then choose the correct answer from "your," "you're," "its," and "it's."  Each appropriate response is associated with a face button.  If you get less than 60% of the questions right, the game will track you down through your Xbox Live Gamertag, PSN ID, or Steam ID and somehow remove your ability to comment on internet message boards.  This may be the greatest thing ever invented.

New Video for F.E.A.R. 3 Mixes Competitive Scoring With Co-Op Gameplay

Do you like a little friendly competition in your co-op?  Are you all for the team until there's a scoreboard?  Do you steal kills to pad your stats, blasting baddies over teammates' shoulders?   If any of these apply to you, the scoring system of F.E.A.R. 3 may just scratch your competitive itch, while still letting you play cooperatively. It appears that after each mission players will be evaluated on things like Aggression, Tactics, and Aptitude. The player with the higher score will earn bragging rights and be declared the "Favorite Son."  Players can earn bonus points by completing skill challenges.  Hopefully, this scoring system will bring an element of replayability to the campaign.

Fear 3 Trailer: F**king Run!

This new Fear 3 video is for a four player survival mode aptly titled "F**ckng Run!".  You and three teammates must run from safe house to safe house in an attempt to outrun and encroaching "Wall of Death".  This wouldn't be so bad, but there are enemies in the way to make your life difficult.  You can revive fallen allies; actually, you must revive fallen allies.  If just one teammate is touched by the death cloud, it's game over, so you can't simply run ahead of everyone else.  The old "I don't have to outrun the tiger, I just have to outrun you!" philosophy won't help you here.  This is one of the two announced 4 player online co-op modes. The other is called "Contractions", and it seems to be a straight Call of Duty Zombies clone.  The game also features a co-op campaign which can be played via split screen or online.  Looks like Fear 3 will have plenty of co-op options for us when it comes out next month.

F.E.A.R. 3 Delayed Until June

Bad news today folks - F.E.A.R. 3 is getting another delay, though this time its shorter than the last.  Originally slated for a March release, then May, the game will now be released in North America on June 21st with the rest of the world seeing it shortly after.  There's no official word as to why the delay happened, but with all of those co-op modes, we think the game might be worth the wait.
