Yeah, this is my favorite Left 4 Dead Screenshot!
Left 4 Dead... it's been several months since it was released, and yet our love for it still remains as strong as a Tank in a stairwell. The free DLC pack is coming up soon, which we look forward to, and now the game is in the news again. The fine folks over at Loot Ninja have the scoop.
So the real story here is expect a Left 4 Dead Game of the Year Edition in the near future. If you look at the time difference between when L4D was originally rated by the BBFC and when it was released you can expect almost a two month wait for GOTY.
Given the release date for the free DLC is April 21, just a few weeks from now, I'd guess that this DLC will be included in the Game of the Year Edition. Perhaps there will be a nice price drop too? In any case, we'll warn you of any Left 4 Dead news ambling your way.

What's that you say? House of the Dead, Left 4 Dead, and CoD World At War don't quite scratch your zombie itch? We've got just the game for you. Killing Floor is a total conversion for Unreal Tournament 2004. Here's the description of the game from developer Tripwire's forums:
Tripwire Interactive is proud to announce Killing Floor, due for release over Steam in the near future. Killing Floor is a first-person co-op survival horror, set in and around London after a mad scientist’s “specimens” have broken loose and gone on the rampage.
Big Ben and braaaiiiiinsss? Sounds like a winner. In addition to offline single player, up to six players can co-op through the streets of London, blowing zombies away in unison. Killing Floor is coming to Steam "in the near future". We'll be sure to keep you posted!

Earlier today, Nick posted Gears 2 versus Left 4 Dead, a comparison of two of this season's hottest co-op games.
This time, we're pitting Left 4 Dead against the Call of Duty: World at War Nazi Zombie mode. IGN has a two-page write-up that throws both game modes into a cage match and declares a winner for each round. While it's disheartening for someone like myself to see Left 4 Dead pound my beloved World at War into the ground, it's a good read from Jason Ocampo.

We've got Zombies on the brain this week. (Maybe that should be "on our BRAAAAIIINNSSS"?) It was quite easy to tie the theme in to Co-Op Classics this week, as there is a sweet little gem from the early 90s featuring the shambling undead: Zombies Ate My Neighbors. Besides having one of the best names of any game, ever, it has quite a bit in common with the recent blockbuster co-op zombiefest, Left 4 Dead. Sacrilege, you say? Read on to see what I mean.

That's right, the 2 player co-op shooter for the Wii ooozes style. With a film grain look, pops and scratches, and a new art style, the whole game is a semi-reboot of the series. Sega created the game from the ground up to take advantage of the Wii hardware, and while the game is still an on-rails shooter for the most part, there is some freedom in movement of the camera using the Wii-mote. Unfortunately according to the Eurogamer preview, in it's current state, it's somewhat broken for co-op play.
Another new feature of the series are combos, which not only increase your score but seems to increase the gore with a "Gorgasm." Yeah, I don't want to know what that is either. Finally the game is said to have a pretty significant length, since this is the first House of the Dead title to skip the arcade cabinets.
We'll be keeping an eye on this one when it's released early next year.

If you saw our previous story on Call of Duty: World at War's secret zombie mode, then you know this is going to be all kinds of awesome. But after getting our grubby little hands on the official trailer, well, this is going to be all kinds of awesome with a side of exploded zombie heads.
The trailer does a great job of showing you the absolute need to work cooperatively to stay alive as you are relentlessly assaulted by wave after wave of undead Nazi soldiers. Looks like Left 4 Dead has some competition from an unlikely source...not that Valve is worried.
The full trailer is embedded after the break, but I warn you, it's intended for mature audiences only. You must be 18 or older to read on.

If Call of Duty: World at War's 4 player co-op campaign mode didn't interest you, perhaps the latest revelation will. Sit down. No, really sit down for this. Oh you are? OK then.
What happens when you cross Left 4 Dead with Gears of War 2's Horde mode and set it in the Call of Duty: World at War universe? You get a friggin AWESOME looking 4 player co-op mode that becomes available after completing the game's single player. This fall just isn't fair.
The zombie apocalypse mode not only features wave after wave of the Nazi undead in 4 player co-op, it actually has a strategy element to it. As you complete each wave, you'll earn money. This money can then be used to buy objects and items to defend your fortification. You see - you aren't going anywhere. The zombies, they are coming for you. Wave after wave into your little rickety old hideout. The only thing you can do is throw stuff into the windows and doors to slow their pursuit of your brains down. We've got some footage of the new mode posted after the Read More link.
Seriously, who's NOT getting this game now?

Play any GTA IV co-op lately? No? You might want to head back into Liberty City then. There's been some changes around town, including a mysterious virus that is changing players into zombies. Brain eating, blood spewing, Russian gangster zombies at that.
The disease exists in any of the multiplayer modes and occurs when a player kills another player who is infected. What's worse? That player may not even KNOW they are infected yet. Players that are infected will either have the "Let sleeping Rockstars Lie" achievement, or be sporting the zombie player skin.
You can track the spread of the virus at Rockstar's Social Club website. All the more reason to play co-op and not kill each other, right? Nobody wants to BE a zombie, they only want to kill them.

A while back, we wrote an article detailing the Co-Op games listed on Steam, but that was before Valve announced they would begin hosting popular user mods and total conversions on the service. As chance would have it, a pair of co-op enabled mods have appeared in the games list!
The first, Age of Chivalry, is based on the premise of story-driven multiplayer, with players being able to select a class to play and tackle the adventure with friends.
Next up, we have Zombie Panic, which appears to be a co-op zombie apocalypse game with a similar premise to Left 4 Dead, though the twist is that your goal is to be the last man standing.
In the coming months, we'll be sure to keep abreast of any and all co-op based mods (and games!) we see popping up on Steam.
Everybody loves a good zombie game. Dead Rising was an amazing title. The Resident Evil series is legendary. But there's a new kid on the block, and the game has you fighting for surivival. But it's not one man versus the world in Valve's upcoming game Left for Dead. The game is tightly focused on team-play, specifically 4 player cooperative action.
Next-Gen has a short preview of the latest build of the title.
It’s unlike almost any other FPS experience (the closest relations are probably the Aliens Vs Predator games), and the infected find themselves constantly working on new ways to mess up the plans of the escaping survivors, dogging them constantly, right through the epic final showdown. On the Farmhouse level this was a military truck arriving to take the players from the scene, and that means staying put in the farmyard for five minutes as wave after cresting wave of rabid zombies pours in from the cornfields. It’s a spectacularly gory crescendo, especially when the survivors find the mounted Gatling gun.
Left 4 Dead will feature 5 large scenarios, and should be availble this June on both the Xbox 360 and PC.
