New Division 2 Update Makes Post-Apocalyptic D.C. A Little Cheerier

So, a virus wiped out most of the population and lead to a society in crumbles? Well... uhh... ho ho ho?

The newest title update (6.1) arrives today for Tom Clancy's The Division 2, and in addition to the usual bug fixes and tweaks, the former hub of our nation's government will be getting some festive makeover. The "Situation: Snowball" event kicks off today and will run for the next few weeks. If you login anytime during the event, you'll receive a "Holiday Supplies Care Package" that includes three Standard Apparel Keys, three pieces of equipment, and (yep) a Santa hat.

The full patch notes can be found over on the game's forums, but here are a couple key highlights:

  • Situation: Snowball - limited time event with some special activities for those in the holiday mood. You'll find Ambush Hoarders wearing Santa Hats wandering around and defeating them will get you the special Sleigher gun.

  • Hardcore Mode (in beta) - if you're up for more of a challenge, then you can attempt the new Hardcore mode where you can only die once. When you do, that's it; time to start a new run.

The Division 2 is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Four player online co-op is supported throughout most of the game, and eight player online co-op is supported in the raids.
