XBLA Classic 'A World of Keflings' Is Coming to Steam, and There's a Demo

The charming city builder is finally making its way to modern PCs.

Back in the innocent days of 2010, A World of Keflings was a fairly popular successor to A Kingdom for Keflings. I even wrote about it a few times in 2012! But the world of humans moved on, and NinjaBee's city-building/adventure game was last seen on the ill-fated Wii U in 2014 (there was also a single-player VR game in 2018). Fast-forward to the dark year of 2025, and not only is A World of Keflings coming to Steam, but there's already a playable demo! Perhaps the cheerful, no pressure gameplay that the Keflings bring is just what we need nowadays.

In A World of Keflings, players control a giant avatar (hopefully customizable in-game since Xbox Avatars no longer exist) who befriends the tiny and hard working but dim Keflings. The player walks around the Keflings' city and helps them build things that they need. This involves telling Keflings to mine things, acquiring resources, and then following simple blueprints. It's quite charming and fun, especially with friends. See our co-op review of the Xbox 360 version for more details.

A World of Keflings Steam demo

The Steam demo reveals that A World of Keflings is still the game that Xbox owners loved back in the day, just with slightly sharper visuals. The demo doesn't like running in full-screen on my system, but hopefully, that won't apply to the finished game. The demo is only single-player, but co-op is definitely a draw of the main game. The Steam game won't support split-screen co-op, sadly. On the other hand, the Xbox version's 4-player online co-op will be upgraded to 8-players on PC. That's quite an improvement!

Could this Steam port be a sign that NinjaBee is interested in making a new Keflings game for modern platforms? We sure hope so!

A World of Keflings is coming to Steam sometime this year.
