We're a little over a week away from the start of the big fall release season, and one of the co-op titles you can enjoy starting on August 29 is Absolver, an "online multiplayer combat game" where players can create their own combat style. Though it's core is a 1v1 fighting game, there are some interesting co-op features, which the devs have recently talked about in some greater detail on the PlayStation Blog.
Microsoft is delaying the release of Crackdown 3 on the Xbox One and PC from Nov. 7, 2017 to spring 2018, the company told Polygon in an official email. The game was revealed at E3 2014 but has since been mostly a no-show to the gaming public. Many were worried about the state of the game, and it looks like that includes publisher Microsoft.
Spellforce, the longtime RTS/RPG franchise, has had a third title in the works for some time now. When we last heard word of the latest sequel, it was said to be heading for a 2016 release. That's obviously not the case, but regardless, developer Grimlore Games has been hard at work making what will hopefully be a worthy entry in Spellforce 3.
Amidst the multitude of stability patches this week and last, Epic had some bigger news about their third-person shooting/building title, Fortnite. A portion of the dev team is devoted to adding a new Survival mode that will challenge players to fight off the hordes of Husks for up to 14 in-game days.
The newest Uncharted title, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, arrives next week and despite the campaign featuring two protagonists, there's still no sign of campaign co-op. However, the game does feature the same multiplayer/co-op Survival modes as Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, which will be receiving an update next week to add a new co-op mode.
While the overall goal of Splatoon 2's co-op mode, Salmon Run, is fairly straightforward, the different permutations (i.e., local/adhoc network vs online), when you can play online, how you can connect with friends, and the rewards is a bit confusing. We've done our best to break this down and answer some of the more frequent questions about it.

Starbreeze's forthcoming co-op shooter, RAID: World War II, got an official release date last Friday. Team up with four friends and steal some Nazi loot, while also shooting some Nazis, on September 26 on PC, and Xbox One/PlayStation 4 on October 10 in North America and October 13 in Europe.
The classic platforming Sonic is back today with the release of Sonic Mania on the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One (PC is delayed until the 29th). To celebrate the hedgehog's return, which thus far has been met with fair praise, check out the game's opening animation and maybe feel a little bit of nostalgia/excitement...
We were undecided last night on what to stream for our normal Monday night co-op stream. With Jason late to the party, Mike and I began to troll through the current list of 1000 titles on sale on Steam. And we found this gem for $6. Aces of Seafood. And would you look at that? It's on Locke's wishlist. So we dove in.
Since July’s issue of MMOCO, some big things have happened for Guild Wars 2. Details on the long-awaited Path of Fire expansion were released and a preview weekend happened just this last weekend. For August, we’ll be diving into these two topics....
Well, folks, I don't mean to scare anyone, but it's looking like a minor apocalypse happened around these parts. Much of the Co-Opticrew is MIA this weekend, including our Site Owner, Nick, and our Lead Editor, Jason, and o-... wait. If they're gone, does that mean I can put whatever I want in here?
