One of my favorite local co-op titles is the physics-based platformer, Chariot. It had all the elements of a good couch game: charming characters, easy to learn controls, and chaotic fun waiting to happen. Therefore, I'm very interested to see what Frima Studios is able to pull off later this month when their next title, Talent Not Included, arrives on PC.
Harebrained Schemes' cooperative rogue-like Necropolis made its debut on the PC last month, and the initial reception was rather mixed. The developer listened to all of this feedback and came up with a plan to address it over the course of the next few months. New indie developer Gamera Interactive will be making their Xbox One debut next year with Unit 4. The action-platformer is definitely invoking a certain 8-bit feel to its proceedings, but there are some puzzle elements as well that revolve around using the abilities of the four protagonists.
I must admit, I'm sort of surprised to see so many co-op twin-stick shooters lately. It's a good thing, don't get me wrong, it's one of my favorite genres of games - after all I created one myself. It's just surprising because they always seemed sort of niche. Perhaps Monsters and Monocles, launching today on Steam Early Access, is the very embodiment of that. Throughout the Gears of War franchise the developers have been trying to tug at our heart strings, but I was all about the over developed muscles and casual swearing, rather than the family drama. For those sad to see Dom meet his noble end *spoilers* you can revive his zombie corpse by purchasing Gears of War 4 in advance.
With the whole rebranding/relaunch of Turtle Rock's Evolve - now called Evolve Stage 2 - last month, the one feature we noticed that was missing was any option to play the game purely cooperatively. The most recent update has rectified that by adding a co-op option back into the game.

Vikings - Wolves of Midgard puts you in the shoes of a Viking or a shieldmaiden as you combat fire and frost giants and try to save the world from utter annihilation.
Ubisoft's "Just" series continues with Just Sing, hitting the current gen consoles next month. No need for any special peripherals this time around, however, as it will use an app that you can just download to your phone to sync up with the game.

Gather round friends, for it's time to check out another offering from the lounge scientists at Sumo. We recently received a test unit for the new Sumo Air, which is an inflatable offering, instead of their traditional beanbag lounge. As a chronically lazy person, I am always willing to flop onto something comfortable and report my findings. After using it in my living room, and at two outdoor events, I shall present my impressions.
