The promised content update for Risk of Rain 2 has arrived today. The "Scorched Acres" update is free and adds a new playable character (REX), a new level (the eponymous Scorched Acres), a new boss, new items, and more. If it's been a little bit since your last run through the rain, now's a good time to hop back in.
We eagerly hopped into Hopoo's Risk of Rain 2 when it hit Early Access last month, and have been equally eager to hear what the developer's plans are for getting this thing to a full release. Today, Hopoo and Gearbox revealed the development roadmap of what will be added to the game and, roughly, when, leading up to the full release sometime next Spring.
In a surprise reveal last Thursday at PAX East, Hopoo Games and Gearbox announced that Risk of Rain 2 was now available to play via Steam Early Access. As the original game was a particular favorite for our staff, we couldn't wait to hop in and check out the sequel!
Gearbox wasn't on-stage at PAX East just talking about the new Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition during their panel this afternoon. Oh no; they had a few surprises up their sleeves. One of the nicer ones was them revealing that they've partnered up with Hopoo Games to get Risk of Rain 2 out into the world... like, right now.
The latest Humble Indie Bundle makes it easy to get some Risk of Rain co-op games up and running. The metroidvania roguelike supports both local and online play for up to four people, and since one Bundle purchase nabs you four copies, you've got a ready-made party.
I’m a fan of games with deep stories that are full of meaning and emotion. Character development is key to keeping my attention. However, every once in a while, a game comes along and catches me by surprise....
Once again it's time for the Co-Op Game of the Year awards. This is our sixth year we are giving out the award. Previous years are found here: 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012. We've decided to keep the same format as last year, splitting up the votes between AAA titles and Indie titles across all platforms.
As 2013 draws to an end and we look ahead to what the new year and next gen consoles will bring, there's plenty that's happened over the past year that's worth a bit of a revisit. Here, then, is a recap of some of the stand out Indie-Ana Co-Op features over the past several months, and my own personal list of favorite indie games I've played in 2013.
What happens when you leave a couple college students alone in their room with Gamemaker studio and a plethora of games from their past to influence them? Risk of Rain happens. A genre bending, wait...make that a blended indie sweetheart who made it through the trenches of the Steam Greenlight program. Cross a roguelike with metroidvania, spri...
It's finally here. The co-op, sci-fi, rogue-like that bested even the intrepid Co-Opticrew, Risk of Rain, is now available on Steam for just $9.99. I really don't have too much to say other than go buy it. It's cooperative, it's fun, and it's a great way to spend the next week waiting for the PS4, or the next two weeks if you're waiting for the Xbox One.
Last night, the usual podcasting Co-Opticrew (minus one) streamed some of our playtime in the upcoming sci-fi platformer rogue-life, Risk of Rain. Mike and I fought through three of the game's levels, even braving it long enough to reach "Impossible" difficulty (which is just as hard as the name implies), while Nick did his best to keep up with us. Fun times were had by all and we've capture these precious moments for you to enjoy.
