Playstation Network has started up a two-week-long sale on spooky games and movies as befits this time of the year. Each week will have a slew of Halloween-esque sales: up to 65% off for everyone, and up to 80% off for PS Plus members. And the good news is that there's a healthy dose of co-op games included in the sale!

The Cursed Crusade Co-Op Review

The Cursed Crusade would, on the surface, seem to have a lot going for it. Screenshots looked nice, the altered historical setting seemed interesting, and combat looked to have a lot of variety due to the abundance of weapons and customization. Topping it all off, the game featured two player co-op, in both local and online flavors. Indeed, it sounds promising upon first glance, but the game falls far short of these expectations upon even the briefest scrutiny.

The Cursed Crusade Co-Op Demo Available Now

We usually don't make too big a deal about demos, unless of course, they have co-op.  The Cursed Crusade demo supports local co-op and is available now on Xbox Live.  It should be on the PS3 soon.  Through the magic of the internet I have played the demo while writing this sentence.  It's cheese-tastic and fun, and more importantly, the game was made with co-op in mind.  You even can switch the split screen from vertical to horizontal!  We'll have a full review when the game comes out later this month.

The Cursed Crusade to Have a Co-Op Demo, New Video

Is it just me, or is The Cursed Crusade starting to look like a pretty good game?  I know we've had our fair share of medieval heroes clad in white robes, but something about this game appeals to me... Could it be the brutal finishing moves?  The split screen or online co-op?  What about the most informative trailer, ever?  All of this sounds good, but that's not what's filling my Q-zone...  Ah, there it is.  The $40 dollar price tag.  The more I see of this game the less it looks like bargain bin fodder.  Check out the video and let us know what you think.

The Cursed Crusade Offers the Most Informative Trailer, Ever

Game trailers come in many different flavors.  Most splice together dynamic gameplay footage and add in some appropriately themed music, tossing in a quote here and there.  Others are crafted around an emotion, which works to varying degrees.  (See Dead Island or the latest Gears of War 3 trailer.)  Then there are others that tell you exactly what you can expect in the game.  They screen almost like a manual. That's what we have here.  The following video appears to check off boxes on a features list, telling us every bullet point in The Cursed Crusade.  It's not artsy, but damn, it got me interested in the game.

Witness how you can stab and slash your way to victory in the new Cursed Crusade Trailer

New Cursed Crusade Trailer Showcases Its Brutal Combat

A new Cursed Crusade trailer recently came out which highlights the game's fighting system. Sure, it may be in German, but the language of hacking, slashing, and otherwise maiming knows no boundaries, as far as I'm concerned. The trailer shows various methods of stabbing and slashing with swords, axes, and spears, much to the chagrin of the enemies. For those of you who are faint of heart, be warned that some of the combat is quite brutal - but oh, in the most satisfying bloodspurty way.

The Cursed Crusade's Price Won't Have You Cursing

Atlus is well known for publishing unique, niche, but quality titles.  So it was a bit of a surprise to see the publisher announce a budget friendly price of $39.99 for their upcoming co-op hack and slash game, The Cursed Crusade.  With an October 11th release date, it seems Atlus set this price more so as a sales tool for the crowded holiday season, rather than a reflection of the game's quality.

New Video for The Cursed Crusade

The latest trailer for The Cursed Crusade gives us a little background on the main character, Denz de Bayle.  He's looking for his father, who was last seen following Richard the Lionheart off to war.  We also get to see his buddy Esteban, accent in full effect.  I'm going to guess that the grizzled man with the eye patch, beard, and silver hair is Denz's father.  He seems to be able to kick all sorts of ass.  The game has an obvious Assassin's Creed vibe with its medieval setting.  True, The Cursed Crusade doesn't have free running or an Animus, but it more than makes up for it with brutal combat and hinted trips to hell.  Oh, and it also has co-op.  So it's got that going for it, which is nice.

New Screens for The Cursed Crusade

We haven't heard much from The Cursed Crusade lately.  Videos were released in November and January, and now we have some fresh screens for you.  In The Cursed Crusade, players will take the role of Templar Denz or thief Esteban in a quest to free themselves from "a curse that threatens to consume their immortal souls."  While these new screens don't show it, the previous videos suggest a more sinister setting than medievil Mesopotamia.  2 player local or online co-op should be supported.  We'll have more for you in the upcoming months, before the game releases for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC this summer.
