This week we wanted to honor some phenomenal Indie games that cost a mere dollar on Xbox LIVE Arcade, and a few honorable mentions of Co-op Indie games that were very enjoyable. Everything in this episode is on the cheap, so if you've got 80(POINTS) or so lying around, you should check these out.
There's plenty of solid co-op news to go around in the latest episode of the Co-Opticast. Gears of War 3, Dead Rising 2, FEAR 3, Red Dead Redemption and Fable 3 Co-Op babies. Seriously how did publishers fit all of that in a two week time span?
Straight out of Capcom's "Captivate" event in Hawaii comes a fresh batch of screenshots from the recently announced co-op mode for Dead Rising 2. With them, we get an idea of the variety in the character customization we are going to have for our own respective Chuck Greene.
So, you just can't wait until the new Left 4 Dead 2 DLC comes out, eh? Neither can we. The thought of a crossover between the original survivors and the new quartet has us giddy as a zombie with a handful of brains. The achievements for "The Passing" have been revealed, so if you don't mind a spoiler or two, why not check them out? Blacklight: Tango Down was recently announced with a four player co-op mode called Blackops. Details were sketchy as to exactly what this would entail, but we tracked down Zombie Studios Producer Andy Kipling and got the dirt on what to expect from co-op when the game launches this summer.
It's a huge hit in Japan, but the Monster Hunter series has never quite taken off here in North America. Capcom hopes to change all that with their latest entry into the series, Monster Hunter Tri for the Nintendo Wii.
Frozenbyte has announced that a set of free DLC for Trine is now available, and will be applied automagically once you fire up your Steam client on the PC. There's no details on exactly what's in the content, called "Path to New Dawn," only that it'll be unlocked for players once they complete the game.

Super Mario Galaxy was a fantastic game, but the co-op elements were less than stellar, if you'll pardon the pun. You'll recall a second player could join in and shoot stars at enemies, and that was pretty much it. Perfect for younger gamers, but not exactly compelling for more experienced Mario lovers. If the above screenshot is any indication, co-op in Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be better.
