The Baconing Gets First Screens, Co-Op Info

Hothead Games have revealed the next game in the DeathSpank series and it's a sequel to DeathSpank and DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue called...The Baconing.  Dropping the DeathSpank prefix the game continues the adventures of DeathSpank as he tries on all 6 thongs at once (what? he was cold) which summons an evil power.  Since this is a mostly family friendly site, I'll withold the joke about thongs and summoning my evil power.  The only way to undo what DeathSpank started is to destroy 5 of the thongs in the fires of bacon.

New Video for The Cursed Crusade

The latest trailer for The Cursed Crusade gives us a little background on the main character, Denz de Bayle.  He's looking for his father, who was last seen following Richard the Lionheart off to war.  We also get to see his buddy Esteban, accent in full effect.  I'm going to guess that the grizzled man with the eye patch, beard, and silver hair is Denz's father.  He seems to be able to kick all sorts of ass.  The game has an obvious Assassin's Creed vibe with its medieval setting.  True, The Cursed Crusade doesn't have free running or an Animus, but it more than makes up for it with brutal combat and hinted trips to hell.  Oh, and it also has co-op.  So it's got that going for it, which is nice.

GamerVoices Has Excellent Maps for Hunted: the Demon's Forge

Does it kill you a little each night you go to bed knowing that you missed just a few collectibles on your first playthrough of Hunted? Or did you recently buy or rent a copy of the game and you want to be absolutely certain you get everything you want the first time through? Well worry not, obsessive gamer (it's okay, we all have our compulsions), there's a section over at GamerVoices Guides that has you covered! Each subchapter (e.g. 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, etc.) has a detailed map where points of interest are color-coded triangles. For example, dragon tears are green. The points for crystals, dragon tears, prisoners, and corpses can be clicked on. This brings up a nice screenshot with a short description on how one reaches the area in the screenshot. Pretty useful, no? Thanks for the tip llllepicllll!

This Week in Co-Op: PUG'ing it

Nope, I’m not referring to Andrew’s adorable dogs, sadly. I continue our TWIC play-with-randoms assignment series and take it into the MMO waters. We joke about the hell of public lobbies and matchmaking over XBL and Steam and whatnot (though it sounds like everyone so far on this assignment has had either positive or apathetic experiences - no outright negative ones, interestingly enough), but MMOs have their own special flavor of this hell known as Pick-Up Groups (or PUGs, for short). PUGs are most commonly used for dungeon groups but can be used for more difficult quests or anything that requires a group of people. A lot of MMO players actually play on their own a lot of the time, so they’ll need to hook up with strangers to complete the more difficult stuff.

Jamestown Co-Op Review

In the midst of the latest summer releases, one title has quietly come along that has managed to capture my attention and affection more than any other. Jamestown, from Final Form Games, provides the kind of 16-bit co-op experience that feels so genuine it could have been a summer of ’92 release…
