The new Star Trek game hit store shelves yesterday. Kirk and Spock, along with the rest of the crew of the Enterprise, will find themselves at odds with the Gorn, a race of rather awesome-looking humanoid lizards. This new trailer is full of action and sweet sound effects from the rebooted franchise. It features all the assorted pings and pews of a Star Trek space battle.
As release hour approaches for the brand new Star Trek video game, another trailer has appeared to shed some light on its creation. We already know the Gorn are back and are pretty angry (could you imagine a happy Gorn?), but a few new details about one of the main characters, Tamar, are teased, along with her history with Spock. Events in the game take place after the 2009 film but before Star Trek Into Darkness, so there's a bit of wiggle room when it comes to crazy things happening.
For Star Trek fans, nothing could be more nostalgic than facing off against such a menacing race of reptilian aliens known infamously as the Gorn. They initially appeared in the 1967 “Arena” episode of the original Star Trek series, striking fear into the hearts of many. If you haven’t heard of them, they’ll be getting a massive, modern makeover in the newest Star Trek game from Namco Bandai.
In 2009, Star Trek’s reboot onto the big screen has certainly given nerds like us something to drool over. Once we heard that a co-op game was being developed right alongside the success of the movie, we knew we could have a real winner here. Many new Star Trek screenshots have surfaced recently of Kirk and Spock working together to save the galaxy, with an old enemy we can hardly recognize.
Gaming, the final frontier. This is the making of video for the upcoming 2 player co-op game Star Trek. Its mission: to explore exactly why co-op was central to developer Digital Extremes' vision for the game, to seek out new game footage, to boldly go where a similar video went the other week.
A new trailer has been released for the upcoming Star Trek game, creatively titled Star Trek. The "asymmetrical" co-op gameplay allows players to control Kirk and Spock (the Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto versions) as they uncover a strange piece of technology on New Vulcan which could save lives or destroy everything in the galaxy. Neat!
The upcoming two player co-op Star Trek game has gotten an official release date. The game is scheduled to be released on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC on April 23rd, 2013. This should coincide nicely with the upcoming Star Trek movie, Star Trek Into the Darkness which opens May 17th in theaters.
Gamescom is going on in Germany right now. You know what that means? Lots and lots of trailers with little to no new information! Sweet! This Star Trek video may not have much substance, but it sure has plenty of style. It's absolutely action-packed. It's got lens flare, beaming, lizards, space ships, warp drives, the Vulcan nerve pinch, and a plethora of phaser blasts. Most importantly, it's full of co-op action with Kirk and Spock. What does it all mean? Who knows? Who cares? It's got explosions! In space!
Namco Bandai proudly displayed their new cooperative Star Trek game at E3. Once past the booth-babe-bookended Captain's chair I entered the Star Trek theater. The game was presented on two side by side displays in glorious 3D. While we couldn't play the game ourselves, Star Trek was demoed in a playable build, and it looked pretty sharp.
We've got a new Star Trek teaser for you today. It's full of slow motion, base jumping, spacey scenes, pew-pew-pew noises, and glorious lens flare. Players will take control of Trek icons Kirk and Spock in this third-person shooter. Namco Bandai recently let the press get some hands-on time with the event, and we've got some new details on the gameplay.
2009's awesome Star Trek reboot film received a decidely un-spectacular and barely related downloadable videogame tie-in: Star Trek D-A-C. Thankfully, when the sequel film rolls around in 2013 it will be accompanied by a much more substantial game at retail, which currently goes by the daring title Star Trek. Namco Bandai has officially picked up the publishing rights and announced it for a first-quarter 2013 release.
The developers were just as surprised as gamers were when Star Trek was announced to be in development for 360, PS3, and PC. The title has actually been in development for a year and a half already and is based on the new Star Trek film series created by LOST co-founder JJ Abrahams. So while gamers were surprised that a decent looking Star Trek game was actually coming, developers were surprised it hadn't leaked in that time period.
The first thing I thought when I saw the above picture was, "Whoa! Spock jacked a plasma rifle from an Elite Covenant! Crossover madness! ," My second thought: "Judging by the bloom alone, the new Star Trek game will be based on the J.J. Abrams movie." Well, I was half right. The new game will continue the story from the J.J. Abrams Star Trek film. Sadly, there's still no word on a Master Chief appearance. While we don't know much about it yet, we do know the game is being billed as a co-op experience where players team up as Kirk and Spock "to stop a legendary enemy race bent on conquering the galaxy." (My guess is something humanoid with minor, yet distinctive changes to otherwise normal homo sapien facial features.) We also know that the game will be at E3 next week, so we'll be able to pick up all the co-op details for our database there.
