One of Ubisoft's most interesting VR outings, Star Trek: Bridge Crew, allowed players with a mixture of headsets to work together aboard the U.S.S. Far Cry 5, Ubisoft's latest effort at combining open world chaos with... mild social commentary, will hit both digital and physical shelves at the end of February 2018.  As such, their PR machine is in full force, most recently culminating in a new trailer depicting the "resistance". 

Earlier this month, Capcom dropped a Monster Hunter: World beta onto the PlayStation 4. The only catch was that you needed a PlayStation Plus in order to play it. If, like me, you have fond memories of commanding hordes of the Undead and moving miniatures about on your best friend's dining room table, then you'll likely be excited to hear that the Tomb Kings (the second offshoot from the larger "Undead" category) will be added to Total War: WARHAMMER 2 in January via paid DLC. This is the first new playable race that is getting added to the game after its September release.

Game developers often take inspiration for their video games from a variety of sources. In the case of Cheerdealers, who are based out of Siberia, they used not only their real-life experience in a harsh environment, but also the paranoia and horror of John Carpenter's "The Thing" as inspiration for their co-op title, Distrust. When Civilization VI's first expansion hits early next year, it'll bring nine new historical leaders into the fray (among many other changes and additions, of course).  Naturally, many players were just begging for details ahead of release, and Firaxis has been kind enough to preview three of nations already:  Korea, the Netherlands, and Mongolia.

During TwitchCon this past October, Bungie stated that they'd start up special events again once the second season for Destiny 2 kicked off in December. Konami's open-world action/adventure title, Metal Gear Survive, has an official launch date of February 20, 2018, but folks will have a chance to check it out and play it for a few days next month. There will be an open beta period starting on January 18 and wrapping up on January 21.

Mouldy Toof and Team17 are getting into the Christmas spirit by releasing some new DLC for The Escapists 2 by putting you into a Christmas-themed prison from which you must escape. It also looks like you and your fellow inmates have to wear some elf hats and make things... Hmm....
