Square-Enix's flagship MMO, Final Fantasy XIV, has been through its share of ups and downs over the past 11 years, including an entire reboot three years after its release. We've touched upon the title here and there throughout that time between Tally's MMO Co-Opportunities articles and the occasional stream of it, but this week we're giving it a little bit more of its due as Jason and Mike sit down for a nice relaxing chat about this particular behemoth.

The Addams Family, a pretty good 2019 animated film, is due for a sequel this October. The 1990s live-action movies enjoyed some odd video game adaptations, so why shouldn't the new movies as well? That's where The Addams Family: Mansion Mayhem from PHL Collective and Outright Games comes in. Heading to consoles and Steam on September 24, Mansion Mayhem will be the first Addams Family game to feature local co-op.

The goal when playing video games is nearly always to have a blast. That goal is usually implied, but there's nothing wrong with making it explicit. That's exactly what Have a Blast, an upcoming arena-based party shooter, dares to do. It promises at least one blast to both Switch and Steam players when it launches on August 26.

Silly physics-based games like Fight Crab and I Am Bread can be a lot of fun. Watching people flail around in said games is sometimes even better than actually playing. We wonder whether that will be the case for the upcoming Steam release Simple Fish Adventure from LostVolBytes. The whole game is about flopping around on land as a fish, and it even features cooperative flopping!

Back in 2018, Brazilian indie developer Epopeia Games released a pair of puzzle platformers on Steam: Goroons and IIN. Both games support local co-op, but they look and play quite differently from each other. Console gamers will now have the chance to experience Epopeia's brand of cooperative gameplay when Goroons and IIN launch on Xbox on August 5, both as solo releases and as a bundle.

There are lots of Diablo-looking action RPGs in the world today, so how do you make your new game stand out? Local co-op is a good step, but co-op's no rarity either. What if the players could turn from guys into animals and ride each other around, though? Now we're talking! That's Coridden, an upcoming Steam game from Aftnareld, which is totally the name of a company, so don't even ask. The game won't be out until next year, but you can try the demo right now.

Japanese publisher Hamster is best known for porting numerous classic arcade games to PlayStation and Nintendo Switch (plus some NeoGeo games on Xbox). The Arcade Archives series makes it possible to play dozens of games from yesteryear, many of which have never been released on consoles before. The latest Arcade Archives release is Konami's Vendetta, the sequel to Crime Fighters.

After enjoying a period of Early Access, the Steam version of All In! Games' Fort Triumph launched in full early last year. A turn-based tactics game, it won us over with its environmental activity and decent local co-op. Console gamers will soon be able to get in on the strategic fun when Fort Triumph heads to Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch in August.

The Tetris Effect: Connected Beta Test just wrapped up last week, providing the developers and publisher Enhance with useful cross-play data. While Xbox and Windows 10 gamers have been enjoying the 'Connected' version of Tetris Effect for almost a year now, players on other platforms have had to wait. The wait will soon come to an end, as Tetris Effect: Connected will officially launch on PlayStation and Steam on August 18, with cross-play coming to all versions simultaneously.

Samurai Warriors 5, the latest installment in Koei Tecmo's long-running feudal Japan-based hack and slash series, launches on July 27. Waiting can be tough, though, especially given that fans have already been waiting seven years since Samurai Warriors 4 (we won't count the iterations on 4).  To tide us over until then, Koei Tecmo has kindly released a free trial version on all major platforms. Making it even more of a must-download, progress in the demo will carry over to the full game.

Toodee and Topdee is the first Steam release from 2-man indie developer Diet Zribi. A challenging and colorful platformer, the game involves switching back and forth between a flat 2D perspective and an angled 2.5 view. Each of the protagonists can only move around in one perspective or another, making the game perfect for local co-op play. It will arrive on Steam on August 4.
