Two Great Trailers, Countless Co-Op Games

As you may have noticed, it's been a slow month for gaming news. Many of us are on vacation. Some of us are dutifully sitting in empty offices, our vacation days already spent on gaming conventions.  Others still are visiting friends and family, trying to load this page using their parents' crappy internet connection. As you sit there at home with family, or in your office getting scared by a rogue cleaning lady, or at your parent's house trying to guess the neighbor's Wi-Fi password, we offer these two videos for your viewing pleasure.

Co-Op Release Alert for the Week of 12.26.2011 (Downloadable Backlog Edition)

While the new co-op releases are slim this week (only one title), there has been a huge amount of downloadable co-op games that have come out over the past few months.  Similar to our retail co-op game backlog list from a few weeks ago, today we offer you the best downloadable content from the past few months.  First, this week's one, brave, co-op release:

Fus Ro Co-Op! Modders Create Skyrim Online Mode

Skyrim might be one of the biggest games of 2011, but it was missing one key ingrediant, co-op.  The game is still epic in it's own right, but being able to slay dragons with some friends or showing off viking shaped snow angels would be an absolute blast - sadly - we couldn't do that until now.  Skyrim Online is a new fan made mod that adds an MMO aspect to the game, allowing players to login and enter the world of Skyrim together.

First Battlefield 4 Co-Op Footage from freddiew

So it might not be real gameplay footage, but Freddie Wong of YouTube fame is back with another great gaming related video.  This time it's his take on the Battlefield franchise - and I don't mean this take.  Titled Battlefield 4 Co-Op the video looks at a pair of soldiers working together to take down some enemy combatants.  There's some slick nods to things you'd only see in Battlefield games and the audio and look of the video is pretty spot on.

Candy and gaming, together at last

Sour Patch Kids 'World Gone Sour' Looks Surprisingly Tasty

Some of our readers may be too young to remember this, but once upon a time Capcom made bunches of licensed NES platformers: Duck Tales, Little Nemo, Yo Noid, etc. And they were all really good! A short while later, somebody figured out that licensed games sold the same regardless of quality, sadly leading to modern shovelware like Thor and Captain America from Sega. Now let’s turn that frown upside down, because Capcom has actually released a very cool licensed game for PC this week: World Gone Sour… A Sour Patch Kids game. It’s a blast from the past!

Battlefield 3 vs Modern Warfare 3: The Co-Op Showdown

Before this fall started there was a battle heating up on the gaming front. It was a battle of military shooters - Modern Warfare 3 vs Battlefield 3. Activision entered the contest as the reigning champion, their franchise selling millions of copies each year across all three platforms; Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. But EA wanted to challenge the dominance with their own storied franchise with BF3. We take a look at both games and ask - "Did their co-op promises deliver?"

This Week in Co-Op: Force Lightning Never Gets Old

Though The Old Republic is definitely an MMO in the post-WoW mold, what it does with the storyline brings me hope for co-op in future Bioware games. You see, whenever you're in a conversation with an NPC, your entire group attends the conversation with you. If a group member is not in the immediate vicinity, they are given the option to hop on via holographic projection.
