Today, Microsoft held its annual Xbox Games Showcase to announce and highlight the games coming to Xbox platforms this year and next year. The lineup features some a handful of co-op games (mostly titles we already knew about, such as Gears of War: E-Day), some third-party heavy hitters, and a smattering of interesting indie games.
Bikkuri Software is a Japanese indie developer that specializes in shoot 'em ups. Those shmups have historically been single-player affairs, but the developer's latest game (published by Henteko Doujin) is called Revolgear Zero, and it supports 2-player local co-op. It even offers the ability to simulate co-op when playing solo in some modes! Fans of 16-bit and 32-bit shoot 'em ups will want to give this one a look.
A new Gears of War game was heavily rumored to be revealed at this year's Xbox Games Showcase, and that's just what we got. Gears of War: E-Day is a prequel that allows players to take control of Marcus Fenix, the original Gears series protagonist, as he endures the series' famous Emergence Day event. The June E3 season came and went without Arcade1Up making any big home arcade cabinet announcements. Arcade1Up kicked offer July with a bang, though, first launching its long-promised Dragon's Lair cabinet, and now announcing three new machines. Today, two new Capcom Legacy cabinets have gone up for preorder that feature Captain Commando and plenty more co-op arcade classics, and a third cabinet features Ms. Pac-Man and other Namco titles.

A few days ago, The Coalition lifted up the curtain on the new Horde mode for the forthcoming Gears 5. While many of the same systems from Gears of War 4 are returning (i.e., using a Fabricator to build fortifications/guns, gathering energy to power the Fabricator, equipping cards on your character), there are a few tweaks, too.
