More mashing than a side of potatoes at Thanksgiving

Sacred Citadel Co-Op Review

Bring along a healthy controller and a friend for this brawler set in the Sacred universe. Features four playable characters, stat-progression, customizable equipment, and a whole lot of button mashing. Some gameplay decisions prevent this game from truly shining in the herd of brawlers floating around. Still, it is an entertaining romp best experienced with two other friends on the same console.

Sacred Citadel's Fourth and Final Character Revealed

Today we have a new trailer from Sacred Citadel, the side-scrolling beat'em-up which takes place in the Sacred universe. In the brief video we are introduced to the Seraphim Mage, who apparently has no need of pants. If you've seen the other character videos you'll recognize the tune. This is the final playable playable character in Sacred Citadel. Wielding mighty spells, she joins the Ancarian Ranger, Khukuri Shaman, and Safiri Warrior.

Give me that loot and XP!

Sacred Citadel Will Have Strong RPG Elements

There will be more to Sacred Citadel than meets the eye. When we first played the side-scrolling brawler at PAX, I astutely noted that we "pretty much just smashed buttons and killed dudes," but RPG elements like loot and leveling  will play more of a roll than I initially thought. Three players will be able to choose from four different character classes, each with their own special abilities.

With a special appearance by the Khukuri Shaman

New Video Features Sacred Citadel's Ancarian Ranger

Sacred Citadel will be hitting the digital markets later this year. It's a cooperative side scrolling brawler set in the Sacred universe you know and love, and it will act as a prequel to events in the much anticipated Sacred 3. We got our hands on Sacred Citadel a few months ago at PAX. We had a good time slaughtering our enemies as we engaged in three player local co-op. If you're familiar with Golden Axe, you get the idea. Sacred Citadel is one of those games that looks much better in motion. Screenshots don't really do it justice.

Ancaria Was Rocked by Blind Guardian, Now Bops to Dubstep

Sacred Citadel Video Shows Off Brawling Warrior

Publisher Deep Silver is most well-known for their co-op zombie killing ARPG, Dead Island, and the upcoming sequel-ish/spin-off Dead Island: Riptide. However, they are also responsible for the recent revival of Sacred 2: Fallen Angel and the forthcoming side-scrolling brawler that's set in the same universe, Sacred Citadel. This cooperative adventure seems to promise all the fun action you yearn for from the "golden" age of gaming, but perhaps minus the frustration, with some slick visuals to boot. In the latest video, we get to see these visuals in full effect as Deep Silver presents the Safiri Warrior... and some dubstep.

Sacred Citadel Offers Side-Scrolling Hack and Slash Mayhem

I think we can all agree the world needs more side-scrolling brawlers. Nick and I recently played through the arcade classic, Golden Axe, for our regular "This Week In Co-op" column. We had a lot of fun, but something was a little off... oh yeah, it was the eye-ravaging graphics. I would like to get my old-school brawl on, but I don't want to do irrepreable harm to my vision. Whatever will I do? Play some Sacred Citadel, that's what!
