Streets of Rage 4 Will Head to Consoles, Introduces New Character

At this year's Gamescom, Lizardcube, Guard Crush Games, and Dotemu showed off some new footage of the forthcoming Streets of Rage 4, including a look at a new character, Cherry Hunter. The trailer also included a little bonus at the very end: the newest entry in the Streets of Rage franchise will be released on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

3D Streets of Rage has a US Release Date

Nintendo went ahead and announced the release date for the much-anticipated 3D Streets of Rage. The portable two player brawler drops on the e-shop in the US December 19, just in time to pick up a few copies as digital stocking stuffers. With the handy mobility of the 3ds, you don't have to worry about spending another nanosecond without punching some street trash right in their mean old face.

3D Streets of Rage Leaked by PEGI

Sega continues its push to release 3D remakes of its classic games on Nintendo 3DS. 3D Altered Beast has already hit Japan, bringing with it enhanced gameplay features along with two player local co-op. Recently the Australian Classification Board leaked a listing for another oldie turned new: 3D Streets of Rage!

Streets of Rage Remake was in the Works at Crackdown 2 Developer

So here's an odd story.  Ruffian Games, creators of Crackdown 2, were working with SEGA on remaking the classic Streets of Rage franchise for modern day consoles.  A two minute video was leaked to the internet showcasing the game's graphics, environments, and even some gameplay.  It's easy to see some of the Crackdown influence in the fighting engine, but it definitely looks like this could have worked.
