Our Weekend In Gaming: Sweet Victory

Victory reigns supreme this weekend at Co-Optimus HQ.  Whether it's a cross-country move or a really hard platformer, we've met the task head-on and thoroughly conquered it.  Unless, that is, you include bonus DLC, like extra levels or all the things that need to be done after a cross-country move.  As a matter of fact, we may need to cancel that all-night celebratory rager.  We've, uh, got some things to take care of.

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 received a, as the developer puts it, “small” patch last week in the form of the 2.4 update. The update, viewable in full here, brings better collision detection to Enchanter’s Lair, fixes locations where players can get stuck on both Old Haunts and Enchanter’s Lair, and some general fixes to the...

Help Real Life Medical Researchers In Borderlands 3

These days, there are numerous ways gamers can use their beloved hobby as a means of benefiting society.  Charity events, such as the recently completed Corona Relief Done Quick, have raised millions of dollars in the aid of medical and humanitarian organizations.  That said, I don't think I've seen the potential for a more direct impact than the new "Borderlands Science" minigame in Borderlands 3.

Three NES co-op classics for just five bucks a pop

Co-op brawler classics River City Ransom and Double Dragon series now available on Xbox

Earlier this year, Arc System Works released the Double Dragon & Kunio-kun Retro Brawler Bundle for modern consoles and Switch, bringing heaps of NES beat ‘em up goodness to Sony’s console. It looked like Xbox owners would be left out of the fun, but that has thankfully changed today. Seven of the games from the Retro Brawler Bundle are now available as $5 individual downloads on Xbox One. At last, Microsoft fans can play Double Dragon II, Double Dragon III, and River City Ransom in local and online co-op! While the Xbox Store page does list Double Dragon as having co-op, since this is the NES version of the game, it actually does not offer cooperative play - instead it's a two player versus mode.

Our Weekend In Gaming: Shake It

The Co-Opticrew is both movin' and shakin' this weekend, and we won't stop until we get what's rightfully ours.  On the movin' front, that means a new house and a new life.  Shakin'-wise, we're looking for an ungodly amount of fruit (and hopefully none of those dadgum wasps).  Be on the lookout for our next weekly check-in to see if we achieved either of those things.

StarCrossed is Volleyball Meets a SHMUP in a Magical Girl Setting

Sometimes I like to be pleasantly surprised when I read about a game that I wasn't following. StarCrossed from Contigo Games seems to fit that bill. The SHMUP genre of the game caught my eye, but when I read about its co-op focus I was really intrigued. I may not be a huge fan of the "magical girl" aesthetic, but I'm willing to give it a try.
