Coloring Outside the Lines - Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City's Crossover Concept

The controls. The pacing. The plot. These are the elements of the core Resident Evil series that provided fans the confidence to keep coming back. The first Resident Evil was completely adverse to your typical action game, despite the presence of guns, thrills, and eventually even co-op. This staunch formula developed a diehard legion of fans, and has grown the franchise so large that its name alone was enough to market six films with worldwide theatrical releases...not to mention 23 videogame titles that have experimentally branched into several genres.

Epic Games is giving away the soundtrack for Bulletstorm.  You may only remember screaming and swearing, but there was definitely and soundtrack in there.  Just follow this link for your free tunes.  The album is made up of 24 songs that average out to about two minutes each.  With titles like; "Hostiles on Our Tale," "My Cyborg Components," and "A Giant Cloud of Impending Doom," you know it's gotta be awesome. The latest video for Brink is showing off the game's pre-order bonuses from Gamestop - namely the DOOM themed items.  These include two shirts, a tattoo, two hats, and two gun skins all themed after id's classic co-op shooter franchise.  We can only hope that these items become premium DLC at some point so everyone can enjoy the awesomeness.  Other pre-order goodies include Fallout 3, Psycho and Spec-Ops with the Fallout 3 themed items being exclusive to BestBuy.

Section 8: Prejudice Trailer Shows the Complete Package

Section 8: Prejudice launches next week on Xbox Live Arcade and on PC on May 4th.  The one thing thats been touted since the game's announcement has been just how much content is in the package for its $15 price tag.  With a single player campaign, online versus mode, and four player co-op mode - its hard to disagree.  Co-Optimus has been hands on with the title numerous times, including the final XBLA copy, and we think folks are going to be pleasantly surprised.

Chime Super Deluxe Co-Op Review

I was quite pleased by my time spent playing Chime Super Deluxe. The overall effect of the music and the puzzles is very relaxing, and you might find yourself blissfully zoning out for a while. Chime Super Deluxe is a nice little game that fills its niche very well.

Dungeon Hunter Alliance Launches with Online Co-Op Bug

Did you get Dungeon Hunter Alliance?  Yeah, we know it's awesome.  Have you played online yet?  Yep, we know it's not working.  Two Co-Optimus editors got together last night for some dungeon crawling action, but were distraught to find that existing characters couldn't join up online. There's a bug hindering online co-op. Established characters could join public games, but it appeared that they could not join a game they were invited to.  For example: I couldn't bring my level 5 Rogue into Nick's game, and he couldn't bring his level 6 Warrior into mine.  The screen would simply flash a message saying we couldn't join the game or the host game didn't exist anymore.  (We could bring a newly created character into the game, but that's just stupid.)

Portal 2 Launching Tomorrow? ARG Campaign Infecting the Internet

Portal 2 is coming next week, or is it?  According to countless sources, (we'll just call them "The Internets") we may be getting a heaping helping of GLaDOS this Friday.  How is this possible?  Try and keep up:  On April 1st, Valve released a collection of independent games called "The Potato Sack" on Steam.  Each of these games has been "infected" with a form of Portal 2 content.  Long story short, there are a ton of clues and hints that point to Portal 2 coming early, that is, if enough people play the "Potato Sack" indie games.

Global Agenda to Launch "Free Agent" Update

When Global Agenda launched a bit over a year ago (a game we thought had decent co-opability), Hi-Rez Studios originally planned for it to be a subscription-based game. This later changed when they decided they wanted to maintain a non-subscription based model where players had access to everything so long as they had purchased a retail version of the game. The subscription model never saw the light of day. The game also had a generous trial where people wanting to try out the game could have a fairly extensive experience for free with the usual limitations (e.g. level caps, chat restrictions, etc.).

LOTR: War in the North Mature Combat Trailer

The people working on The Lord of the Rings: War in the North have not been shy about courting an M rating. This latest combat trailer has plenty of decapitations and dismemberments.  The new title from Snowblind Studios will elaborate on the Northern Campaign mentioned in Tolkien's books.  While this game won't focus on the Fellowship, it will cover new heroes of Middle-Earth.  Will gamers appreciate the Coy and Vance versions of their favorite heroes?  We think so.  We really enjoyed our time with the game at PAX East.  Which just goes to show that it doesn't matter which character kills the orcs and trolls, what matters is that we get to kill them.  Game violence is like ketchup.  It makes everything better.  Check out the following trailer and see for yourself.
