From zero to, well, certainly better than it was

ORION: Prelude Free-To-Play for a Week, Buy for $1

In the world of game development, there is definitely something to be said for perseverance. When ORION: Prelude released back in May 2012 (then known as ORION: Dino Beatdown), it seemed like it was dead on arrival. The developer, Spiral Game Studios, never gave up on it, though, and has continued to update, improve, and add on to the title. By all accounts, the game has significantly improved. To celebrate, the game is free-to-play for the next week and can be picked up for just a $1.

From beatdown to horde

Orion: Dino Horde Updates Original Game

Chances are you are not alone if you haven't heard of Orion: Dino Beatdown. A budgeted PC title that was released last year, Orion is a class-based cooperative game in which you survive hordes of dinosaurs using high tech weaponry. You can team up with up to four other players online to duke it out with prehistoric monstrosities. Sounds fun and different, right? Well, sad to say, we did not enjoy the game very much at all, giving it a very low score. Certainly the game was not recommended for play. To check out our review, take a look here.

Orion: Dino Beatdown Gets a Major Title Update, Steam Sale

Several of the Co-Optimus staff were stoked for Spiral game Studios' Orion: Dino Beatdown prior to its release. Cooperative combat against carnivorous dinosaurs - how could you go wrong? Yet as Jeff Goldblum would've predicted, things did go awry at launch (presumably thanks to the fat guy from Seinfeld). The game released incredibly buggy and undercooked, prompting a necessarily harsh co-op review.

Balancing out the news of the delay, developer Spiral Game Studios has released a new video that reveals tons of details about the game's classes, buildings, and vehicles.

Trade in that aging Cadillac for a jetpack!

Fight Dinosaurs Together in Orion: Dino Beatdown

Humans versus dinosaurs co-op games are almost as rare as real, live dinosaurs. There's Capcom's arcade classic Cadillacs and Dinosaurs and the most recent, slightly disappointing Turok, and that's it. That will change next month when indie developer Spiral Game Studios releases Orion: Dino Beatdown for PC. Up to 5 human players will be able to take on hoardes of terrible lizards in this fast-paced first-person shooter. Did I mention our side gets jetpacks and vehicles too?
