This summer the Xbox LIVE Arcade will be getting another four player third-person shooter called Scourge: Outbreak. Stop me if you've heard this one before: Set in the near future, and small team of specialized mercenaries must take on a secret organization whose mysterious fuel source, "Ambrosia," is threatening the safety of the world. Players will be able to level up their characters and use special perks and abilities. Really? I know several titles have similar story lines, but I finished another upcoming squad-based third-person shooter less than 24 hours ago and this premise seems very familiar.
Another day, another character bio trailer for Scourge: Outbreak. This time it is the very Olde English sounding character called Stonewall. You may think that his power is a detailed knowledge of Hadrian's Wall, but you would be wrong. He is in fact a rounded Biotech character that you can use in this 4 player co-op shooter coming soon to PC, PSN and XBLA.
The console development of Tragnarion Studios' The Scourge Project, dubbed Scourge: Outbreak, has been underway for a little over the past year. This is more than just a straight port of the PC version, though. As we previously covered, Tragnarion is taking the time to make a game that is designed for the consoles, including new gameplay mechanics, a new enemy A.I., improved graphics, and more. The members of Echo Squad from the PC version are still around and the developers are taking the time to introduce us to them. First up is Shade, an Argentinian assassin with a personal vendetta against the Nogari Corporation (aka "Evil Corp 3000").
While we may have found quite a few faults in The Scourge Project, it appears developer Tragnarion didn't sit idely by while develping the console version. In fact, the console version isn't even the same game as the 2010 PC 3rd person shooter, instead Scourge: Outbreak is a brand new game built from the ground up for console gamers.
Since we announced upcoming third person shooter Scourge: Outbreak back in May, things have been fairly quiet about the game from Tragnarion Studios. For those of you who wanted to see a little bit more about it, you're in luck. We have a recently released teaser trailer for the game!
The word scourge is not used frequently enough in common vernacular, losing most of its kudos after American Prohibition and the Scourge of Alcohol. Well pour yourselves a pint, because not only is booze legal, but a new game is coming called Scourge: Outbreak. This 4 player online co-op game is coming to Mac, XBLA and PSN later in the year and confronts the player with stumbling enemies. These enemies are not drunk, but a bit dead. Find out more and check out some screens after the jump.
