Call of Duty: World at War Co-Op AchievementsOctober 13th, 2008 at 2:28 PM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Just because my gamerscore is over 55 thousand, that doesn't mean I'm an achievement whore.  That also doesn't mean I don't love hearing about a game's upcoming achievements. And it especially doesn't mean I don't like to hear when there are co-op specific achievements.  Got that?  I'll try again.  I like achievements, especially when they are co-op.  Damn, that was much easier.

There's good news on the Call of Duty front as the latest game will feature 14 specific achievements for the game's 4 player co-op mode.  While most of them are unlockable in single player, there are 3 or 4 that will require you to play the game's cooperative mode.  These include both trying the game's competitive co-op and normal co-op modes.

The rest of the achivements seem to be tied to bonus objectives in the game like killing a certain amount of enemies or using only a specific weapon.  The full list of achievements are posted after the Read More link.

Halo 3 Achievements Reveal "Mythic" Map Pack and 750 GamerscoreSeptember 23rd, 2008 at 10:15 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

There must be something in the air this morning, because all I can smell are achievements.  The latest achievements to be confirmed are a fairly large set for Halo 3 bringing to light the previously rumored "Mythic" Map Pack.  While it's unknown whether or these are single or multiplayer maps, we are going to lean towards Single Player and Co-Op Maps due to the existence of new skulls.

The original secret skulls were available one per map based on the level name, therefore the new skulls; Assembly, Citadel, Heretic, Longshore, Orbital, and Sandbox, should reveal the names of the new maps.

In total the Mythic Map Pack will add 500 Gamerscore to the recently added 250 Gamerscore for the title update that went live today.  Looks like it's about time to fire up Halo 3 again and get the crew back together for some Covenant slaying co-op action!

Fable 2 Achievements are Co-Op FriendlySeptember 23rd, 2008 at 8:59 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Even though we covered some of Fable 2's achievements before, it wasn't until today that we can confirm what we previously told you.  While we are still going to see achievements related to bigamy, gambling, and of course, orgies; it's the co-op specific achievements that have us excited.  That's not to say we aren't excited about orgies.

As seen above there are a handful of co-op specific achievements related to expressions and combat, this was previously known.  But what we didn't know before was that you could earn achievements just from joining a friends game and WATCHING them complete the requirement for it.  It appears there should be one more achievement to add to the list, Voyeur

The full list of achievements can be found over at 360 Sync.com.

Duke Nukem 3D Officially Coming to XBLA. Might have 8 Player Co-OpAugust 19th, 2008 at 7:58 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

It looks like somebody just ran out of gum.  As previously rumored it's now official; Duke Nukem 3D will be hitting Xbox Live Arcade "soon."

"We officially passed final cert on our first try Friday, August 15th," said Broussard. When asked about a possible price point, he noted that it will be "about what you'd expect." While Broussard's comments are open to interpretation, most XBLA releases are priced between 800 ($10) and 1200 Microsoft Points ($15).

Now the game is in Microsoft's hands.  I'd expect it to be released sometime after there summer of Arcade promotion, that ends the last week in August.

So how did the game suddenly get discovered and confirmed overnight?  Website MyGamerCard happened to pick up the full list of achievements while combing through Xbox profiles.  The best news of course is that the game will feature all four episodes, the original and the expansion pack, and all four of the achievements for completing these episodes are available in Co-Op!  The original game supported 4 player co-op but there's an interesting rumor out there which could up the ante not only in the number of players, but the number of features.
