Parting Is Such Sweet Sorrow

[E3 2019] Xbox Backwards Compatibility Announces Final Titles

With all of the excitement of E3 and the thrills brought on by Project Scarlett, Microsoft’s next generation gaming platform, there was some bittersweet news as well. Microsoft announced the next batch of games that are now available via Xbox’s Backward Compatibility program will be the last. The team over at Xbox is now looking forward to the future of the platform with Scarlett, and in turn will be looking at how to help gamers' libraries stay with them moving forward, which means no more games coming to the Backwards Compatibility program from now on.

Endure the Summer Heat With Friends With July's Games With Gold

July... Of all the months in the calendar year, this one has the distinction of being my least favorite. Mainly due to the fact that the unbearable heat (which is my natural nemesis) makes life feel questionable. But, put that aside, and I guess it's ok. If your idea of a perfect July is being indoors with air conditioning and video games with friends, then good news! July's Games with Gold includes three co-op titles: Assault Android CactusDeath Squared, and Splinter Cell Conviction (360, backwards compatible).

The following week, we played some three-player Gauntlet, and last week we played Terrorist Hunt in the Rainbow Six Siege Beta.

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent And Other Ubisoft Games Go Offline Aug 8

Ubisoft has made the ultimate call on some of its older titles. While online connectivity has been compromised for a few of these games in the past, (such as stripping out Xbox Achievements and PS3 Trophies) they're finally getting the full on multiplayer-ectomy. Ubisoft is bringing down the online servers and striking them from U-play on August 8th.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist Launches (very very quietly)

What is that scuttling noise?  Is it a squirrel in the attic?  Or perhaps a incompetent player controlling Sam Fisher in his latest adventure Splinter Cell: Blacklist, out 20th August?  If, like me, you end up playing the Splinter Cell games like a ham-fisted one man band (alerting every enemy to your presence) you may want to check out the new launch trailer for some tips.
