The post-apocalyptic, Eastern-European setting seems to have been growing in popularity these days, with Metro: Last Light releasing just earlier today. Soon, Left 4 Dead 2 players will be able to take the normally southern-based team of Survivors on a Ukrainian based campaign within a brand new indie mod.
Left 4 Dead 2 will be entering into its Linux version very shortly, integrating it with Valve’s ongoing “Extended Mutation System” beta. What is EMS exactly? Essentially, it’s an easy way for modders to change various scripts within the game, totally customize them however they choose, and so much more (not to be confused with the Steam Workshop). Up until now, this system has only been available in very small testing groups, but that’s about to change very soon.
A couple of days ago, War Z succumbed to a serious hacker attack that put private user information at risk. Consoles might have had the split-screen co-op advantage on Portal 2 that their PC counterparts didn’t for a good while, but those days are now gone. Along with some minor fixes, Valve has recently added the split-screen co-op mode to the PC version of Portal 2, making Steam the undisputed best way to experience the entire game on one platform.

Overkill was just recently purchased by Starbreeze, who put out the recent Syndicate title, making this bit of info even juicier.

Almost a year ago, THQ announced that the Left 4 Dead co-developer, Turtle Rock Studios, was signed on to do another first person shooter. Today, we can announce that their currently unnamed FPS title has finally shown some sign of life and they’ve begun its full development!
