The post-apocalyptic, Eastern-European setting seems to have been growing in popularity these days, with Metro: Last Light releasing just earlier today. Soon, Left 4 Dead 2 players will be able to take the normally southern-based team of Survivors on a Ukrainian based campaign within a brand new indie mod.

Left 4 Dead 2 will be entering into its Linux version very shortly, integrating it with Valve’s ongoing “Extended Mutation System” beta. What is EMS exactly? Essentially, it’s an easy way for modders to change various scripts within the game, totally customize them however they choose, and so much more (not to be confused with the Steam Workshop). Up until now, this system has only been available in very small testing groups, but that’s about to change very soon.

A couple of days ago, War Z succumbed to a serious hacker attack that put private user information at risk. Both the game’s database, as well as the forums that sparked the huge controversy over the game’s legitimacy last year, were hacked to the point where developer, OP Productions, was forced to shut down their servers and take it offline until further notice.

We’ve seen plenty of games do crossovers with Capcom over the years, but nothing quite like this! Both Capcom and Valve have proudly announced that both Resident Evil 6 and Left 4 Dead 2 will be holding a crossover in each other’s games, switching things up for fans of these two major zombie franchises.

Due to major changes in the core game engine, DayZ, the mega-popular, zombie apocalypse mod of ARMA II will be pushed back until 2013.

Consoles might have had the split-screen co-op advantage on Portal 2 that their PC counterparts didn’t for a good while, but those days are now gone. Along with some minor fixes, Valve has recently added the split-screen co-op mode to the PC version of Portal 2, making Steam the undisputed best way to experience the entire game on one platform.

Just after the release from his work on Valve’s newest title, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Chet Faliszek, the writer behind the Left 4 Dead series’ gameplay driven storyline, said a few words in regards to a possible future title in the franchise.

Normally, kids should absolutely dread going to summer school. In this circumstance, however, Valve has taken that notion and thrown it completely out the window, promoting their new education portal, “Steam for Schools”, with the help of Portal 2 this summer.

Now here's a bit of interesting news that just appeared out of nowhere.  Overkill, makers of the 4 player co-op PAYDAY: The Heist and Valve, publishers of Left 4 Dead are collaborating on a new project that is "a blend" of the two aforementioned titles.   Overkill was just recently purchased by Starbreeze, who put out the recent Syndicate title, making this bit of info even juicier.

What’s up the guys at Valve, giving us all this new content for Portal 2 after only a year of being released? Coming on May 8^th, the “Perpetual Testing Initiative” DLC will be available for those science lovers looking to take a page out of GLaDOS’s book and do a ton of testing.

Almost a year ago, THQ announced that the Left 4 Dead co-developer, Turtle Rock Studios, was signed on to do another first person shooter. Today, we can announce that their currently unnamed FPS title has finally shown some sign of life and they’ve begun its full development!
