Capcom has shown precious little interest in keeping the Mega Man franchise alive, hence it’s up to indie developers to carry the torch. Chief among those developers is Batterystaple Games, whose well-received 20XX first appeared on Steam in 2016 and made its way to consoles over time. After a period of early access, the sequel, 30XX has full...
Ninja Kidz is a popular YouTube video series starring martial artist kids who can't act as they get into all kinds of adventures. The "kidz" are so popular, in fact, that they've been given a low-budget beat 'em up for consoles and PC. NINJA KIDZ: TIME MASTERS sends the "kidz" back into the past in a mission to rescue their grandmasters from the forces of evil. It supports 4-player local co-op, so parents and children can join in the martial arts fun.
It's a great week for platformers. Not only has Sonic Superstars just come out on all platforms, but Nintendo has now released Super Mario Bros. Wonder on the Switch. Wonder is the first 2.5D Mario game released without the word "New" in the title, a move meant to show that this is more of a mainline Mario game than a spinoff. It still supports 4-player local co-op, however, so there's plenty of family-friendly fun to be had.
Back in June, Sega announced that Sonic Superstars would be the first Sonic the Hedgehog game with 4-player co-op. Now the game is finally here, and up to four local players can team up and go on a 2.5D platforming adventure as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy. We're always excited for a new Sonic game, but the co-op support makes this one so much more exciting.
The first Taito Milestones collection bundled 10 classic Taito arcade games in a low-frills package. One year later, Taito and ININ Games have returned with Taito Milestones 2. This installment once again bundles 10 Taito classics into one compilation, but the games lineup is slightly more modern and exciting this time around. We’re talking a...
October is a traditionally scary month, full of all manner of haunts and frights. There's no need for Steam and Switch gamers to be afraid of ghosts (or is that "no ghosts"?) now, thankfully, because Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed has finally arrived on both platforms! The PC version was previously Epic exclusive, and poor Switch was just completely haunted until now. Both of the new versions support full cross-play with the existing Xbox, PlayStation, and Epic games, thankfully.
Although Limited Run didn't do much to promote it, Deathwish Enforcers became a sleeper hit when it appeared on PlayStation and Switch earlier this year. Now that game's developer, Monster Bath Games, has a follow-up title in the works for Switch and Steam called GuardGrave. With a spooky theme, gorgeous 2D pixel art, and 2-player local co-op, this one should be good fun for retro gamers when it arrives later this fall.
The Cook, Serve, Delicious! series of cooperative cooking games has become quite popular in recent years, spawning several sequels, a single-player spinoff called Cook Serve Forever, and an upcoming remake of the first game titled Cook, Serve, Delicious: Re-Mustard!. The very first game in the series has never been available on ...
When Earth Defense Force 6 launched on PlayStation in Japan back in 2022, we thought for sure that an English release would follow in 2023. Summer 2023 came and went with no announcement, however, which certainly distressed fans of the series. Thankfully, we no longer have to worry because D3PUBLISHER has just announced that Earth Defense Force 6 will come to PlayStation and Steam in North America and Europe early next year!
The Contra series is poised to make a comeback thanks to fan favorite-developer WayForward and Konami. Contra: Operation Galuga is a 2.5D reimagining of the original Contra arcade/NES game that will launch in early 2024. The remake looks to retain the series' traditional cooperative run-and-gun action, and we're all about it. How close will...
I'm sure many of you know the saying "Never change a running system". And it is still great advice. But sometimes you are forced to change. Like for example when your hoster wants to decommission the old hardware and switch you over to a new server. In theory nothing special and even beneficial. Yes, it was a bit unfortunate that we had to make that merge during the week of Tokyo Games Show since the Database Master couldn't do any work during that time. But on 9/23 everything was moved over and he was able to clear the backlog in a couple of hours. All seemed good at the end of the day.
The "Dimension Shellshock" DLC for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge recently arrived on console and PC, adding new playable characters, an addictive co-op survival mode, and more. To learn more about the decision-making and co-op balance behind both the main game and "Dimension Shellshock," we spoke with...
