The Settlers 7 Settles for 2

So...you never bought The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom for a potential co-op patch. Okay, so you never actually bought The Settlers 7 at all. Well...this news isn't for you, then. But for those of you who do own The Settlers 7 it might be interesting to know that the latest downloadable pack - DLC Pack 4 - is currently available for $4.99 and adds two player co-op support and two co-op exclusive maps, among other things. If you don't feel the urge to expand your experience for a mere fiver, then you'll be delighted to know that a free compatibility patch is available...and it provides the capability to play co-op with anyone else who's installed the patch or DLC Pack 4.

Is Valve Done With Single Player Games?

"Probably," says Geoff Keighley, in his new iTunes app/article: The Final Hours of Portal 2.  The multimedia piece offers a striking look at the inner workings of Valve Software, the makers of such industry staples as Half-Life, Team Fortress, Left 4 Dead, and their sequels.  The Final Hours of Portal 2 is an online article currently for sale at the iTunes store.  To access it you need only to follow the link above.  The most intriguing portion of co-op news come from a conversation Keighley heard between between Gabe Newell, Valve's founder, and Erik Johnson, the company's project manager:

Check Out the Races of Torchlight 2

Every other week up until E3, Runic Games is revealing bits and pieces about the Torchlight 2 world. Call me a big nerd, but I love these kinds of sneak peaks into the lore of games while they're being made. The latest installment is about the races of Torchlight 2. The Sturmbeormen, the Ezrohir (pictured above), the Dwarves, and the Varkolyn are all detailed:

Co-Op Release Alert for the Week of 4.25.2011

The week following Easter can be rife with indulgence.  After giving up something dear to them for the 40 days of Lent, god-fearing people can feel free to get back into bad habits with a gusto.  I myself gave up going to church for Lent about 17 years ago.  It made me feel so righteous, I haven't been back since.  If Easter isn't your thing, that's fine too.  These new games are nondenominational.

Bethesda Answers Why Skyrim Won't Have Co-Op

While Bethesda as a publisher looks to have its biggest year ever for co-op gamers with Brink, Hunted: The Demon's Forge and RAGE - Bethesda's biggest game this year is the one being developed in house.  A continuation of their Elder Scrolls saga, Skyrim is set to release on November 11th of this year on the 360, PS3 and PC.  It's an expansive and open ended RPG that is the fifth game in a series that started on PCs back in 1994.  But despite its PC roots and open ended feel, the Elder Scrolls games have always lacked multiplayer - something fans clamour for with every new game in the series.

CCV Blogs - April Week 3

It's time once again for a Co-Optimus Community Voice update on this, the third weekend in April. It's been a slow month for blog topics, but the medium is picking up. If you don't write for CCV, don't worry - I'll only cry a little bit. I am loving all of the "other" attention going on there, and some great writers as well! This weeks CCV is addressing the Kane and Lynch series of co-op and profane fame.
