A new character joins the ranks of Guardians of Middle Earth this week. Everyone loves spiders. Especially giant spiders --giant spiders with spiny legs that skitter around on needle-point claws, meticulously working bone-crushing chelicerae framed by sharp, venom-filled fangs, peering into your soul with their glassy, alien stares of desperate hunger. Makes me feel all warm a fuzzy. The makers of Guardians of Middle-Earth are tapping into our universal love of spiders with their new character, Unglob.
There is a new guardian on the block in Guardians of Middle Earth. You may recognize him as the infamous Saruman the White. He hails from Isengard, and comes as the latest DLC for the game. He is classified under the Enchanter class.
Guardians of Middle Earth has been a very surprising title for the XBLA and the PSN. it has attempted, and in many ways suceeded, to bring the wildly entertaining world of MOBA to a home console. As a part of the season pass model, numerous guardians have been unleashed since the game made its debut. The latest addition to this cast of legendary heroes and villains is the Barrow-wight Lord. Here is the official description for the lord of terror:
Guardians of Middle-Earth may have already sported a cooperative mode for its more traditional MOBA style of play, but it looks like a new piece of DLC to the game will change things up even further. Dubbed Survival, players will team up to take on waves of enemies with increasing difficulty.
Starting today, Guardians of Middle-Earth joins the PS3's Instant Game Collection, the system that offers games for free to Playstation Plus (PS+) members. As long as you remain a member, you'll be able to play any of the cycling titles that you've downloaded for absolutely free.
Guardians of Middle-Earth is out later today on PlayStation Network and tomorrow on Xbox Live Arcade, along with a retail release of the game which includes a season pass. The game is one we've been eyeing up since it came out of nowhere at E3 2012, it's a MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) game for the console featuring characters from the Lord of the Rings universe.
While the initial release date announcement for Guardians of Middle-Earth illicited some confusion, with only a PlayStation Network and retail date being announced, we've now gotten confirmation of the Xbox Live Arcade release date. The game will be out on December 5th, the day after the PlayStation Network release and will be priced at $14.99. It'll launch with two maps and 20 guardians to choose from.

With the next Peter Jackson film, “The Hobbit”, arriving in theaters in a couple of months, now is a great time to reacquaint yourselves with the mystical world of Tolkien. Guardians of Middle Earth to this point was going to be a downloadable only title on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade. Now though, the game is seeing a full retail release along side of the digital only version. Warner Bros today announced a $30 physical version of the game which will include a Season Pass code for access to all future digital content. The digital version will set you back $15 with the option to purchase the season pass separately, though a price hasn't been disclosed. Using some complex deduction skills, we're guessing the season pass will cost $15.
Right before PAX Prime kicked off, Monolith invited Co-Optimus to their studio in Kirkland, WA to check out the latest build of Guardians of Middle-Earth. The game was a surprise to us at E3, bringing the MOBA genre to the console while combining it with the LOTR license. So Mike and Nick braved the Washington traffic and headed into the studio eager to see how the game has progressed...and hoping to get a glimpse of a SHOGO sequel. One out of two ain’t bad.
Monolith has been pretty great about releasing videos for their upcoming console MOBA, Guardians of Middle-Earth. Previously, we've shared with you guys videos outlining six of the heroes for the game so far. Today, we have a developer diary video for your viewing pleasure.
We've been impressed so far by what we've seen from Guardians of Middle-Earth, the upcoming action MOBA for consoles. As some of you may know, one of the biggest draw to these types of games is the different characters and how they vary in playstyle from each other. Monolith is certainly aware of this, as they've been doing a series of videos showcasing heroes, breaking down each of their skills. Gollum, Gandalf, Galadriel, and Uglúk have all been presented in previous such videos.
