It's been several years since we've seen anything major happen in the N universe. The minimalist take on the classic arcade platformer by Metanet Software started as a PC downloadable game then spawned a copy of itself called N+ for XBLA, PSP and Nintendo DS. Now the studio is working on a proper sequel, N++, but has released a nice little update for N to keep us screaming in frustration. Ladies and gentlemen, N v2.0 has arrived. And it has co-op!
Well hello there. When last we met, we introduced you to roughly half of the cast of Double Fine's upcoming co-op adventure, The Cave. This included the Hillbilly, the Monk, the Scientist, and the Twins. Each of these protagonists is on a quest of some sort, though it would appear that not all may be as it seems. The latest character trailer has come out and we're introduced to the rest of the possible heroes.
With classic 2D platforming gameplay mixed with a unique method of locomotion, stark and interesting artwork, a jazzy soundtrack, plus some of the developers of the wonderful Bionic Commando: Rearmed behind it, Pid had every opportunity to be an unforgettable modern platformer. Unfortunately, few gamers will enjoy the insane level of difficulty and terrible co-op.
Though Nintendo was shooting for Pikmin 3 before the end of 2012, it looks like it will just make the cutoff of the Wii U’s launch window next year.
The New Super Mario Bros. 2 game is now out in stores, along with Nintendo’s official New Super Mario Bros. 2 website to promote its flagship title’s new features. Co-op mode, like in the other New Super Mario Bros. titles, is highly encouraged to players and we couldn’t agree more.
Recently, another behind the scenes video of Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two’s development has surfaced on Youtube by Disney Interactive. This time, the footage features Creative Director, Warren Spector, discussing the two main characters of the game, Mickey Mouse and Oswald the Rabbit, who work cooperatively to traverse their magical world of The Wasteland.
The success of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game since its release has been phenomenal. It would sounds like a no brainer to make a sequel to this game, right? Well, the game to follow it up isn’t quite a Scott Pilgrim sequel, but close to it. Mercenary Kings, another 2D action title from the guys that brought you Scott Pilgrim, want to bring the amazing, old school, pixelated graphics right back into the limelight, but only through your help can they make it happen.
BattleBlock Theater has been showcased in many different forms over the last couple of years, like at Comic-Con, PAX East, and E3, making its overall development stages somewhat difficult to keep up with without following The Behemoth’s official Developer's Blog or Twitter account. What they’ve been working on including in their title is quite impressive and we want as many people talking about the game as possible. Thankfully, Behemoth has given us a quick rundown of all the features BattleBlock Theater will be offering come release time, and we can’t be more excited for it.
Retro’s seem to be all the rage these days, as we have recently discovered that the cult video game series, ToeJam and Earl will be arriving on XBLA and PSN in their crazy adventures of ToeJam and Earl and ToeJam and Earl in Panic on Funkotron.
Hey retro gamers out there! If you’re a fan of the old-school, Contra days of the NES and SNES, then 8-Bit Commando is the game for you to check out. Developer 2DEngine went back in time and decided to satisfy our retro hunger, because there’s practically nothing modern going on about this game (and we like this very much).
A new trailer for Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two has surfaced on Youtube recently, one that should give Wii owners a reason for one last gaming experience before the coming of the Wii U.
