Beyond Co-Op: Alan Wake - Episode 1 Preview

Alan Wake has what industry folks like to call, "a long development cycle."  Announced at E3 2005, Microsoft and developer Remedy had ambitious plans not only for the game graphically, but narratively.  Story wise it's been compared to Twin Peaks, LOST, and a Stephen King novel.  Graphics, the game was originally billed to show off DirectX 10 and Windows Vista, now five years later the game isn't even touching PCs.

This Week in Co-Op: Of Glitches and Time Lost

A little over a week and a half ago, Co-Optimus and Bungie had another one of our Halo Waypoint Co-Op nights.  The focus of this particular event was to collect the skulls and audio logs from Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST, respectively.  Having not yet gathered all of the audio logs in my single player game, I figured that this was the perfect time to do so, and I was not alone.  Nick and community member Bakken Hood were also pursuing these back-story fragments that were scattered all about New Mombasa, and were prepared with a map that showed the locations of all the audio logs.  We were unprepared, however, for what awaited us at the end of our search.

We're just a couple weeks away from Black Box's latest entry in the Skate franchise, Skate 3, and while we've seen a fair amount of the team-based multiplayer aspects of the game, both in our impressions and from the recently released demo, we haven't seen too much of the co-op aspects in action.  Fortunately, a new video from EA gives us a taste of what some of that co-op looks like, and what you and your friends can do together when you team up in the freeskate mode.  In addtion to the new video, there's another bit of news to share.  Interested in asking the developers some questions about the game?  Read on to find out how.

Fake Plastic Controller + Real Guitar = Power Gig: Rise of the Six String

Abbot and Costello, Peanut Butter and Jelly, Pork and Beans: apart from each other, they are acceptable, but combined, they turn into something far better.  So what would happen if you took an actual, functioning electric guitar, and combined it with the fake plastic doodads used to control music games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero?  You'd get something like the Power Gig guitar, shown above.
