The final Borderlands 2 DLC will be here very soon, which is sort of a sad thing to hear for us Co-Optimus folk. We’re excited to see that Gearbox has revealed a very small taste of what is to come out of “Tiny Tina’s Assault On Dragon Keep” coming later in June.
Techland's "Project Hell" has officially been announced as Hellraid. They're calling it a "First Person Co-Op Slasher." Sounds good to me. Techland developed Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide, so we should have an idea of how the game will play.
From Software debuted some Dark Souls 2 gameplay footage on IGN yesterday. Let's get this hype train rolling.
With the announcement of The Avengers 2 movie hitting theaters on May 1st, 2015, what better to accompany the news than some new screenshots of LEGO Marvel Super Heroes? These sweet shots have finally been unleashed to the public, revealing one of the many super villains we will be facing within the game.
It’s hard to believe that nearly two years ago, I wrote the first exclusive preview of Double Dragon II: Wander of the Dragons for Co-Optimus. A 3D remake of the classic Double Dragon II arcade game, it seemed destined to revive the historic beat-em-up franchise after years of inactivity. Korean game developer Gravity Co, Ltd. and publisher Barunson Creative Co Ltd. understood the series’ importance in the gaming landscape and found the second game’s story most exciting, hence their decision to remake it for modern audiences.
Capcom's announcement of Ducktales Remastered during PAX East has had the internet ablaze this weekend, but the other game they announced was more exciting from a co-op perspective. We already reported that Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara would be coming to XBLA and PSN last week, and now it's official. Plus it will arrive on the Wii U and PC, making it easy for everybody who's anybody to experience Capcom's finest beat-em-ups.
Dragons' Crown is coming to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita this summer. It's a side scrolling beat'em up/action RPG that features some intriguing hand-drawn artwork. Frank Frazetta would be proud. Once you get past the physical appearances of the Amazon and the Sorceress, there's a pretty decent looking co-op game here. In fairness to the ladies, several other creatures seem to be sans clothes, themselves. The dwarf, for example, is wearing little more than a beard, boots, and belt.
The music genre may not be what it once was (it's deader than disco), but there are a few new games on the horizon. BandFuse: Rock Legends is one such brave title. Taking a cue from Rocksmith, BandFuse will allow gamers to play with a real guitar, bass, or USB microphone. Featuring the in-game tutelage of Slash, Zakk Wylde, and Bootsy Collins, players will learn how to play a wide variety of songs.
In 2009, Star Trek’s reboot onto the big screen has certainly given nerds like us something to drool over. Once we heard that a co-op game was being developed right alongside the success of the movie, we knew we could have a real winner here. Many new Star Trek screenshots have surfaced recently of Kirk and Spock working together to save the galaxy, with an old enemy we can hardly recognize.
There will be more to Sacred Citadel than meets the eye. When we first played the side-scrolling brawler at PAX, I astutely noted that we "pretty much just smashed buttons and killed dudes," but RPG elements like loot and leveling will play more of a roll than I initially thought. Three players will be able to choose from four different character classes, each with their own special abilities.
Armored Core V might not have been a smash hit in the states, but that's not stopping Namco Bandai and From Software from bringing the mech fighting sequel stateside. Armored Core: Verdict Day was announced earlier this week in Japan and today is was revealed it will be coming to North America. This title will be a true sequel to the events to ACV, not that anyone could follow them. The world is still in a constant state of war as opposing factions vie for territory, seeking to control of what remains of the planet's resources. I don't remember much resource gathering in ACV, but I do remember raining down metal hell on opposing Cores. Good times.
Sandlot’s upcoming third-person shooter, Earth Defense Force 2025, will have many beastly bugs to contest with, but do the humans have what it takes to compete? These screenshots may seem to be taking their side, actually.
It wasn't long ago we learned that the Wii U was getting a special version of Need for Speed Most Wanted, complete with a local co-op mode. I recently went hands on with the game and checked out just how the co-op works, and while it's not a "true" co-op mode in the sense there are separate players working together for some sort of common progression, what is there is a family friendly way to play together.
Terraria’s release onto the console is almost here! To keep the hype going, we have a brand new trailer describing the online features of the edition, as well as a ton screenshots to check out.
Indie PC game Orion: Dino Beatdown is a co-op shooter filled with fantastic ideas like pitting space dudes against dinosaurs. Unfortunately, the actual game had so many awkward design decisions and mistakes, it felt like the developers hadn't played a FPS game in the last five years. After debuting to scathing reviews like our own, Orion received one major update - but the PR damage had already been done. Rather than continue cooking a dead turkey, developer Spiral Game Studios has decided to start fresh (after a fashion) by releasing a sequel: Orion: Dino Beatdown - Jurassic Edition.
