We did a "Co-Op Roundup" earlier this week of all the new co-op games that were announced/revealed during this year's Game Awards, but one slipped past us. Bossa Studios has invited us back into the world of surgery simulation with Surgeon Simulator 2, and this time, it won't be just you putting on a surgical mask and sharpening your surgical hatchet. Based on the trailer and language in the press release, four player co-op (we're assuming online) will be supported in the game.

Dead Mage Studios' rogue-lite action-RPG, Children of Morta, will be getting some free (and paid) content over the next several months. The developer recently released a roadmap that shows their plans to add more to the game, including a feature we're all fans of around here: online co-op.

The second DLC pack for MARVEL ULTIMATE ALLIANCE 3: The Black Order, titled "Rise of the Phoenix," will arrive next Monday and brings with it four new playable characters (Gambit, Cable, Phoenix, and Iceman), and a new game mode that mixes co-op with competitive play. The "Danger Room" pits two teams of four players against one another as they attempt to be the first ones to clear out a room of foes.

Last week, Geoff Keighley held the fifth annual Game Awards where games and developers were honored. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice won the "Game of the Year" award (and "Best Action/Adventure Game"), Luigi's Mansion 3 won "Best Family Game" (the co-op is good), and Destiny 2 won "Best Community Support." Amidst all that, there were also some big announcements, including the reveal of the next generation of Xbox.

10 Chambers Collective's GTFO arrived via Steam Early Access last week. As it is still in the beta phase, there are only six levels available at the moment, though getting through those won't be easy. The developers are out there pretty publicly stating this game was designed to be a challenging experience and that it may not be for everyone. Based on what I've played so far, they're not wrong.

The first paid DLC for Borderlands 3, "Moxxi's Heist of the Handsome Jackpot," arrives this Thursday, but before you go off to find some new loot, enjoy some free (if you have a SHiFT account) loot now. Last Friday, developer Gearbox started posting SHiFT codes to their Twitter account that could be redeemed in-game for things like new ECHO skins, a weapon trinket, and a new legendary assault rifle. Those codes can all be found over on the Borderlands 3 website and are good until January 10.

This weekend, the Co-Opticrew is tethered to both the past and present of Bungie.  While the alluring nostalgia of Halo: Reach will take up some of our time, Destiny 2's siren song has swelled once more with the start of the game's latest season.

November 7th, 2002 was the last time a full fledged single-player and co-op MechWarrior experience was released. 17 years later we've finally been graced with MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries and the crew at Co-Optimus strapped in to our favorite metal beast for some good ol' metal-on-metal action.

A couple days ago, Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince got its first bit of DLC, and it is free on all platforms. "Toby's Dream" sees our protagonists delving into the dreamworld of the Toby the dog, who Frozenbyte fans may recognize from the developer's previous co-op title, Nine Parchments.

Earlier this week, the PlayStation 4 version of the popular building-sim, Minecraft, finally got the Bedrock Update. That update made its way around all other versions of the game so that all of them could play together; the PS4 version of the game was the one notable exception. With that update, everybody can play Minecraft on all platforms where it's available and have their progress carry over.

The Darksiders franchise got a new entry last week on the PC (console version is coming February 2020) with Darksiders: Genesis, an isometric, twin-stick shooter-ish, action/adventure game. While the gameplay has changed a bit from the previous third-person action titles, there's a lot that's familiar and the new format works. Best of all, you can play with a buddy online or on the couch!
