New Ghostbusters Trailer Features Movie Footage, also Ghost Fishing.

Familiarity among geeks is essential when taking something we love and introducing it in a new medium. To emphasize the familiar, the new Ghostbusters trailer features movie footage from 1984, and an important lesson delivered by Harold Ramis: Don't look directly into the trap. I can only imagine that the film footage was also to show off the likeness in both features and voice. I was impressed with how everything looks, and noticed a bit of Ghost-fishing with the way the streams seem to work.

Dragon Age Hands on Preview [NYCC]

I'll admit it, I put way too many hours to count into Bioware's Baldur's Gate on the PC more than 10 years ago.  So despite what you see in the above screenshot, when I glared at the screen at the NY Comic Con, I was shocked to see something that looked eerily similar to the classic title so near and dear to my heart.

NY Comic Con 2009 in Photos

We start our NY Comic Con 2009 coverage with a handful of shots from the show floor.  We've got some great pictures of the entire thing.  What impressed me most was the sheer size of the show.  From a square footage perspective, this even topped last years PAX.  The people that were there were all upbeat and fun, with plenty of cos players wondering around posing for pictures.

Co-Op Casual Friday: Wiimote Shooters

This week on Casual Friday, we'll take a look at several games, all in the same genre.  Each of these games are for the Wii; Nintendo's console is a fine choice for casual gaming, though certainly not the only option.  The unique capabilities of the Wii remote have led to something of a renaissance in an old, but dearly beloved game type: the lightgun shooter.  We'll look at several examples of Wiimote shooters today in our quest for the best co-op title in the lot. One of the first things a non-gamer will say when you hand them an Xbox 360 or PS3 controller is "what do all these buttons do?"  It can be overwhelming to say the least.  Consider the Wiimote, though.  The pointer motion is quite natural, and easy to understand.  There are lots of buttons, yes, but A and B are much larger and more prominent in a tactile way.  The device is a perfect fit for the simple point and shoot philosophy of lightgun games, and Nintendo obviously knows this.
