The Kinect Killer?

Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor Co-Op Review

By now you've probably heard that Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor is a complete disaster. That's not entirely true. I've been to hell and back, completing the entire story mode and earning an "A" ranking on most of the co-op missions. Is this game a diamond in the rough, or am I some sort of gaming supermasochist? Find out in our Co-Op Review.

Spec-Ops: The Line Co-Op DLC Should Be Available by August

Spec-Ops: The Line is out now on the 360, PS3 and PC - but it's still missing a piece that Co-Optimus readers would be most interested in - namely the co-op mode.  At E3 2012 we went hands on with it and were quite impressed with what was on display - a gritty, difficult, and tight co-op experience for two players to work through.  We were told the content would be available shortly after launch and today 2K Games have put that time frame into perspective.

Oh Noes, New Super Mario Bros. 2 Will Have Paid Downloadable Content

Premium downloadable content or PDLC is a highly contentious issue amongst gamers.on the one hand you have people who see DLC for a game and either choose to buy it or not buy it. Then there are folks to whom the simple mention of optional downloadable content is like being forced to eat a bag full of black licorice while watching Adam Sandler's Jack and Jill. Pure horror! Yet PDLC is here to stay, as evidenced by stodgy old Nintendo finally embracing it. That's right, New Super Mario Bros. 2 on 3DS will have microtransactions.

Tabletop Co-Op: Magic the Gathering Horde Mode

Magic is, generally speaking, a highly competitive game, but what if there were a way to play it in co-op? I've got good news for you, reader, the always innovative Magic community has created just such a format. Horde Magic blends the awesome deckbuilding fun of Magic with the unrelenting pressure and tension of survival modes, like Gears of War 3's Horde mode, or Left 4 Dead's Survival. The combination is glorious!

Earth Defense Force Hitting the Vita with Full 4 Player Co-Op

PlayStation Vita owners will be getting a version of Earth Defense Force 2017 for their shiny portable console this fall.  A version of the game, which is being called Earth Defense Force 3 Portable is being released in Japan this September and is being published by D3 Publisher.  While the Xbox 360 version of the game only featured two player local co-op, the PlayStation Vita version will feature four player co-op play via AD-HOC wireless or online.

Journey Collector's Edition Coming to Retail in August

There are people who love the game Journey, and then there are those who are dead inside. Journey is one of my favorite games on the PSN, offering a co-op experience like no other. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it, playing through the short quest several times. I must not be the only one who dug it. The game has become popular enough to earn the retail treatment.

The Co-Op Release Alert for the Week of 6.25.2012

I was excited when I saw there were five new games coming out this week. The summer can be a little sparse when it comes to new releases. Then I was sad when I realized all but one are re-releases or system ports. Then I was happy  because Dead Island is an awesome co-op game and everyone should play it. Then I was sad again, for no reason. I need to change my meds.
