Say goodbye to couch co-op.

Sumo Couple Co-Op Review

We don't often do reviews for anything but games here at Co-Optimus. Sure, we cover new game systems when they are released, and the occasional accessory like a headset or keyboard. When Nick asked me if I'd be interested in doing a review for a bean bag, I was certainly surprised, but definitely interested. The kind folks at Sumo sent the perfect model for a site dedicated to co-op gaming: the Couple, with room for two.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Launch Trailer

Hey look!  It's the official Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 launch trailer!  Isn't it nice to see a little game like this getting some exposure?  It looks like a mean old terrorist is up to no good, and it's up to you to stop him.  With bullets.  Probably to his face area.  Let's not kid ourselves here.  You are buying this game, whether you want to or not.  I don't want to play MW3 at all, but I'm literally pre-ordering it in another window as I'm typing this.  You can do the same thing when you watch the trailer!  Use this link and help support Co-Optimus!

A Trio of Increasingly Awesome Videos for The House of the Dead: Overkill - Extended Cut

Okay, I'll admit it.  I've posted a lot of videos covering The House of the Dead: Overkill - Extended Cut, and to be honest with you, I haven't been that impressed by them.  I've always enjoyed the House of the Dead franchise, and I loved the direction the series took in The House of the Dead: Overkill for the Wii.  The previous videos for the PS3 exclusive Extended Cut version just don't pack the same punch.  Take a look and see what I mean.  Oh, and keep reading, because this is going to be awesome.  Promise.  There's gonna be boobs and stuff.

BattleBlock Theater Trailer Demonstrates Grenades with Friends

The Behemoth's games are certainly known for their rather unique sense of humor, solid gameplay, and fun co-operative action. BattleBlock Theater, the developer's latest and greatest, matches all three of those descriptors by placing you and your friends in the shoes of shipwrecked prisoners that are forced to perform in a kind of theater in order to gain their freedom. The prisoners and gameplay have been highlighted in a series of videos, and the latest shows off Prisoner #10304 and his fondness for things that go boom.

Portal 2 In-game Level Editor Coming Next Year

The first Portal 2 downloadable content, ‘Peer Review,’ added a new challenge mode and co-op levels. Valve has just announced a second DLC that doesn’t seem to include new levels, per se. Instead, it will bring a full-on in-game level editor. The thought of cooperatively designing levels with a partner is certainly enticing.

Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster Co-Op Review

It's amazing what a little time can do to your perspective of things. When I founded Co-Optimus a game like Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster wouldn’t have even been on my radar - I was a man that cared more about the next Halo then I did about the next casual or kids title. But now as the father of a two and a half year old girl, Once Upon a Monster instantly appealed to me as a way to entertain her and enjoy something with her, without having to watch another episode of The Fresh Beat Band.

Remember to Update your Video Drivers for Battlefield 3

Did you stay up to the wee hours of the morning waiting to unlock Battlefield 3?  If not, now is a good time to remind you that you'll want to update your graphics drivers on your PC for the game.  Both AMD and NVIDIA have released optimized versions of their drivers for DICE's Frostbite 2 engine.  I put a solid 3 hours into the campaign last night on my PC armed with a GeForce GTX 580 on all Ultra settings and the latest drivers.  The game is drop dead gorgeous for sure and makes serious use of lighting effects with some really slick texture details.

The News that Matters From Blizzcon 2011: A Console Gamer in a PC Land

Full disclosure: I am not a Blizzard fanboy.  There, I said it.  Wait, don't freak out!  I'm not a Blizzard hater, either.  I've played through Diablo and some of the sequel.  I dabbled in WarCraft before there was a "World of."  I Zerg rushed with the worst of them in StarCraft.  I did all of that and more - a decade ago.  I have never owned a gaming PC, ever.  I mooched accessed Blizzard titles through a steady stream of college friends and roommates back in the late 90's and early 00's.  Once I moved on I never looked back.  Somehow, I found myself at Blizzcon 2011 last Friday.  There were sights, there were sounds, there were many announcements, and not so much as a whisper of StarCraft: Ghost.
