Sacred Citadel Offers Side-Scrolling Hack and Slash Mayhem

I think we can all agree the world needs more side-scrolling brawlers. Nick and I recently played through the arcade classic, Golden Axe, for our regular "This Week In Co-op" column. We had a lot of fun, but something was a little off... oh yeah, it was the eye-ravaging graphics. I would like to get my old-school brawl on, but I don't want to do irrepreable harm to my vision. Whatever will I do? Play some Sacred Citadel, that's what!

Cannon Fodder 3 Out Now on Steam, 15% Off

Cannon Fodder 3 was released earlier this year, but was only available via Gamersgate.  I was initially excited to learn the game was now available via Steam, allowing me to play the game's four player co-op mode with my friends via the service.  Sadly once I purchased the game I learned there's no Steam integration to speak of, it's simply a method for delivering the game to your computer.

Two trailers for Guardians of Middle-Earth highlight 4 playable characters in the game

Guardians of Middle-Earth Trailers have Character

It is an age old question: who would win in a fight between an Elf and an Orc?  I would like to think the Orc would use its brute strength to decimate the light footed elf.  We no longer need to ponder this question as the upcoming Guardians for Middle Earth, based on popular film trilogy (and it says here, book) Lord of the Rings, will let you pit one against the other.

Wallace too!

Scott Pilgrim Prepares to Take on the World with Online Multiplayer DLC

Ubisoft's videogame adaptation of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is a pretty stellar brawler with River City Ransom-inspired gameplay and unparalleled pixel art. It's also based on one of the best comics ever - at least the first four or five volumes of the book. Let us not speak of the sixth. But since the game's release, one major criticism has always plagued it: the lack of online co-op (it's 4-player offline). Well, color us all surprised: a DLC pack entitled 'Online Multiplayer plus Wallace Pack' is set to launch soon, just two years after the game's release. Timely!

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition Adds New Polishing to 1.7.3 Update, L4D Skins Coming Soon

It was only a few short weeks ago the Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition gained its highly sought after 1.7.3 patch, giving us loads of new trinkets to play with, such as autosave options, piston mechanics, and shears. Unfortunately, this included a whole slew of new bugs to address. Luckily, Mojang and Microsoft have released a new patch to correct these minor problems and get Minecraft back on track.

NHL 13 Offering True Online Co-Op Play in GM Connected

Some of my favorite co-op memories involve the Sega Genesis and games of NHL 95 with my buddy.  Sports games are a natural co-op occurence and most games will let you play locally with at least two players vs the AI.  Sure we've had a few games that have added a dedicated online co-op mode, but these modes so far haven't been persistent.  All of that looks to change with NHL 13's new mode called GM Connected.

New Aliens Colonial Marines Dev Diary Focuses on Xenomorphs and Weapons

When we last saw the Gearbox team heading up Aliens: Colonial Marines, they were giving their best Blue Steel impressions as their names flashed onscreen to uneasy pulses of a motion tracker. (I'm totally jealous. Whenever I hear strange noises and see words buzzing by my head I'm supposed to lay down for a few hours.) Well, the gang is back, and they've got more info on their canonical sequel to the Aliens film.

Earth Defense Forces 3: Portable Coming to the PS Vita: Featuring Four Player Co-Op and Jetpacks

I'm a big fan of the EDF frachise. The "so-bad-they're-good" titles have captivated me since Earth Defense Force 2017. I love taking on the alien Ravagers, easily mangling giant insects, crippling robot Hectors, and menacing drop ships. The sequel, EDF: Insect Armageddon, was a fair game, but lacked the unpolished charm (and the 52 stages with multiple difficulty levels) of 2017.
