Prepare for Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt

Borderlands 2 "Gear Up Weekend" Starts Today, Plus PC Patch Notes

We are only a few days away from the third installment of Borderlands 2 DLC. "Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt" will go live on January 15. Jason and I have played through the new adventure, and I really can't say anything more than that. I can say that if Gearbox decided to have a weekend event where they offered high powered weapons, you should probably take advantage of it. Oh, what a coincidence! Sir Hammerlock himself, or whoever happens to be running the @ECHOcasts Twitter feed, just announced a "Gear Up Weekend." What does that mean, exactly?

The Co-Opticrew checks out a couple early levels of Monaco

Billy's 4: Monaco Heists from the Co-Opticrew

We had a chance to try out the Monaco Beta thanks to the folks at Pocketwatch games. We have been covering the game for a number of years now and have played it at countless trade shows, but it is nice to finally sit down in the comfort of your own home and execute a heist. We captured it all on tape, so check out the two videos we have from the early levels of Monaco: What's Yours is Mine.

Defiance Trailer Shows Off Massive Co-Op Battles

Well this is sort of embarassing.  As the prime source for co-op gaming, you'd think we'd have a beat on things like this, but Defiance just sort of snuck up on us.  We've seen it on display at numerous shows like E3 and PAX, but just never paid much attention.  Sure most MMOs are natively cooperative in nature, but Defiance is doing something different - it's bringing the genre across the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, the PC and even...onto TV.    The latest trailer for the game showcases some insane co-op play where dozens upon dozens of players are working together to take out giant creatures in dynamic world events influenced not only by the community, but by the TV show, which is also influenced by the game.  Got that?

Halo 4's Upcoming Spartan Op's Schedule Revealed

Halo 4's Spartan Ops mode has been on a re-run schedule since December, with 343 opting to put the game's earlier episodes into match making.  During that time they've been running a contest giving gamers a chance to win things like a Truck and a spot in an upcoming Halo game.  As the tournament begins to wind down it's about time for some fresh co-op content.

Achieve Afterlife Glory by Telling God Mode Developers How You Died

The recently announced co-op FPS from Atlus, God Mode, has an interesting premise. You see, you're dead. Expired. Ceased to be. You've given up the ghost. Joined the choir ethereal. In so many words, you are an ex-parrot. In spite of your current state, all hope is not exactly lost as you have a chance at redemption by battling your way through the minions of Hades ("that's hell, in a toga"). The burning question, though, is how did you get to be here?

Total Carnage's End Screen Bug Revealed 20 Years Later

If you've never heard of Total Carnage, it's the sequel to the co-op arcade game Smash T.V.  It's also one of my favorite co-op games ever.  It takes the twin stick formula of Smash T.V. and adds in heavy doses of comedy and continued over the top violence.  I've logged countless hours on this game over many different versions since it was released to home consoles on the SEGA Genesis.  One thing that's always bugged me, at least I thought, was that I never received the true ending to the game.  It turns out that's the result of a bug that's been there since the game was in the arcades in the early 90s.

Serious Sam: Double D XXL Trailer, Prepared to be Scared

Imagine a game that is like the fantastic Super Contra, but seen through the eyes of an animal tripping on LSD.  This is about halfway to the realisation that is Serious Sam: Double D XXL.  This XBLA exclusive 2 player local co-op title (it was out on PC without co-op) is coming to burn your earballs on February 20th.  Don't believe me that the game looks insane?  Better check out the new trailer for yourself.
